Aranya Sangha Dana Fellowship Limited 阿兰若护僧团 A Charity that provides support for community-based Buddhist Monastics. 阿兰若护僧团是一个提供照护服务给社区僧伽的慈善团体 Most of the Buddhist monastics are elderly or live alone.

Aranya Sangha Dana Fellowship Limited (Aranya) is a registered non-profit organisation (UEN 202020882E) that supports community-based Buddhist monastics in Singapore to live in the community and age with dignity. Aranya organises regular Sangha offerings, fellowship activities and provides support services such as medical escort, volunteer visitation, legal consultation, information and referral, and annual spring cleanings. Our team consists of staff and volunteers from all walks of life, including Buddhist monastics, professionals, working adults, homemakers and retirees.

阿兰若护僧团是一个注册的非盈利机构 (UEN 202020882E)，专为居住在社区中的年长或独居佛教僧侣，提供各项社区关怀与支援服务，让他们能在社区邻里僧坊中安度晚年。护僧团除了常年定期举办供僧、联谊活动，同时也提供一系列的社区服务包括陪伴复诊、志工探访、法律咨询、协调转接、和僧坊年终大扫除等。护僧团的团队除了全职员工，还包括由僧众、在家众、专业人士、家庭主妇和退休人士等等所组成的志工团。

Through the heartfelt efforts of Aranya Volunteers, together with the vibrant energy of Buddhist youths and young children, the monastics experienced a refreshing and meaningful celebration of the Ullambana Festival.

We will also like to express gratitude to all Sangha members who graced the event, including monastics from Wat Ananda Metyarama Thai Buddhist Temple, Buddhaguna Buddhist Temple, Kwang Hua Buddhist Monastery 佛教廣化寺 and Tai Pei Buddhist Centre 大悲佛教中心 . May all beings be well and happy!

August Monthly Lamp Offering was held at Khachod Wangchuk Norkyil Ling on 22 August 2026, where Venerable Chuan Xian led the prayers for the lamp offering session and conducted the teaching on “Introduction to the Practice of Chenrezig - Part 2” in Mandarin for Volunteer Cultivation. May the teachings support the volunteers on the path with wisdom and compassion 🙏🏻

For Ullambana Festival Sangha Offering 2026, almost 90 monastics were present to witness performances from Buddhist youths and young children as a form of offering to the Triple Gem, before the monastics received dana offerings from volunteers and members of the public.

In conjunction with Singapore Buddhist Youth Day, youths accompanied around 30 monastics to visit a farm in the afternoon to do hydroponic harvesting 🥬, salad tasting 🥗 and extract aloe vera pulp for a refreshing beverage🌿🥤.

We will like to sincerely thank BuddhistYouth Network, Tai Pei Buddhist Centre 大悲佛教中心, My Little Gems Preschool, Kok Fah Technology Farm and Aranya volunteers for their partnership, as well as donors and supporters for their wholehearted support.

May we continue to uphold and support the Triple Gem so that the Dharma may benefit all sentient beings. May the merits be dedicated to all parents — may those still living enjoy blessings, longevity, and peace, and may those who have passed away attain liberation and be free from all suffering. 🙏

约90位僧侣慈悲莅临2026年盂兰盆节供僧植福活动。佛教青年与幼儿们以生动的表演形式呈现了三皈依及佛曲舞蹈。演出结束后，诸位法师接受志工与大众的悉心供养。

配合新加坡佛教青年日，青年们于下午陪同约30位僧侣走访农场。大家一起体验水耕蔬菜采收 🥬、品尝新鲜沙拉 🥗，还亲手提取新鲜芦荟果肉来制作饮品 🌿🥤。

衷心感谢新加坡佛青互助网、大悲佛教中心、My Little Gems Preschool、国华科艺农场及阿兰若志工团队的携手合作；同时诚挚感谢所有善友们的热心护持。

🪷 Birth Day of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva 🪷

29th day of the 7th lunar month

Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is one of the four principal bodhisattvas greatly respected and worshipped in Mahayana Buddhism. The full name of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is "Kṣitigarbha Bodhisattva of the Great Vow".

According to the history of Mahayana Buddhism, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is often depicted as a Buddhist monk who took a vow not to achieve Buddhahood and guide all living beings until all hells are emptied. Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva was mainly known for his vow to take the responsibility to guide all living beings in the six realms between the parinirvana of the Buddha and the arrival of Maitreya Buddha.

During our Ullambana Festival Sangha Offering last weekend, more than 500 Sangha members and laypersons gathered in the spirit of generosity and gratitude.

Following the Dana procession, we took a quiet moment to remember all those affected by the recent floods in Nepal, and to dedicate the merits from this gathering to them.

May the merits of this offering be dedicated to all those affected by the floods.
May those who have lost their lives find peace.
May those who are grieving find comfort and strength.
May those facing hardship and displacement receive the support and conditions they need.
May suffering be eased, and may all beings be safe and well.

🙏 May the merits of our collective practice and generosity be shared with all beings.

在上周末举行的盂兰盆节供僧植福活动中，超过500位僧众与在家信众欢喜齐聚，以虔诚恭敬与感恩之心供养僧团，共植福田、广结善缘。

供僧仪式圆满后，大众一同静心诵念经文、忆念近期尼泊尔水灾中的受灾民众，并将此次供僧、共修与一切善行所积聚的功德，至诚回向予所有受灾及受影响的人们。

愿以此供养功德，
回向所有受水灾影响的众生：

愿亡者离苦得乐，往生善处；
愿伤者早日康复，身心安稳；
愿失去亲友、正经历悲痛者，获得慰藉与力量；
愿身处困境、流离失所者，及时获得援助与善缘；
愿灾难早日平息，苦难得以减轻，
愿受灾地区早日恢复安宁。

Following the Journey of Care & Contemplation (JCC), participating Venerables and volunteers have completed two sharing sessions with the wider Aranya Sangha community.

Through revisiting their experiences and key learning points, the sessions helped to deepen and anchor their own learning, while extending the insights from the journey to monastics who were unable to participate.

May these shared reflections continue to nurture greater awareness, compassion and preparedness in caring for ourselves and others through ageing, illness and end of life 🙏🏻

「关怀与观照之旅」（JCC）结束后，出席的僧众和志工们已完成两场交流会，与更多阿兰若僧侣分享学习体验。

通过深入的反思与心得分享，不仅让参学的法师们获益，未能同行的法师也得以共沾法喜。

Rooted in the Ullambana Sutra, Ullambana festival commemorates Venerable Maha Mongallana's rescue of his mother from the hungry ghost realm.

Lay Buddhists gather during Ullambana to make offerings to the Triple Gem and dedicate merits to one's ancestors.

The festival signifies filial piety and compassion, emphasising on transference of merits to address the needs of departed loved ones in their spiritual journey.

Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva is the right attendant of Amitabha Buddha in the Western Paradise, leading sentient beings to the Pure Land and is one of the eight great Bodhisattvas. He is a bodhisattva who represents wisdom and his name literally means "arrival of the great strength".

The most common representation of Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva is the one who holds a lotus flower and a treasure vase on the hair bun.
