💙R.I.P. Rev. Dr Peter Cruchley
It is with deep sadness that I inform you of the passing of our colleague and friend, The Rev. Dr Peter Cruchley, director of the World Council of Churches Commission on World Mission and Evangelism (CWME). Peter was diagnosed with cancer and was receiving treatment over the past several months. Peter has left us too soon and the loss of his presence would be dearly felt but we give thanks that for him, all pain and suffering has ended and now he finds his rest in God.

Peter‘s view of mission was grounded in radical discipleship, transforming justice and mission from the margins giving due consideration to the neglected, poor and vulnerable communities. His work in the areas of slavery, racism, decolonisation and his courage to speak truth stood him out as one who called for God’s mission as a lived experience and witness to God’s love, justice and presence in the world.

We offer our condolences and prayers to his wife, Lena, children, and wider family. May God give them comfort, strength, and peace during this time of separation and loss. We will let you know further details as soon as possible and we will also arrange a memorial service at an appropriate time in the Ecumenical Centre.

Blessings and peace to all of us,
Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay
General Secretary
World Council of Churches

The Council for World Mission (CWM) warmly welcomes Rev. Dr Seungbum Kim from the Presbyterian Church of Korea (PCK) as a Partner in Mission (PIM). He will serve his PIM term as an Assistant Professor with the Union Theological Seminary in Cavite, Philippines.
Describing his role as a fellow pilgrim seeking liberation and justice together with students and local communities, Kim said, "I pray that we may reflect deeply together on God’s liberating love, stand with the oppressed, and imagine new ways to embody freedom, healing, and care for all creation. Through our teaching, learning, and shared struggles, may we nurture a community that lives out the gospel of hope, liberation, and solidarity in our time and place.”

Our hearts go out to the people of Myanmar and Thailand, who have been affected by the recent earthquake. Many communities are facing devastation, loss, and uncertainty. As rescue and recovery efforts continue, we stand in solidarity with our siblings in Myanmar and Thailand, praying for:
- Comfort for those who have lost their loved ones
- Healing for the injured and strength for medical teams
- Provision for those who have lost homes and livelihoods
- Wisdom and resilience for local faith communities, relief workers, and international partners responding to the crisis

Let us lift Myanmar and Thailand in prayer and action, seeking God’s peace, justice, and restoration. May the global community come together to offer support and hope in this time of need.

🌍✊🏿 As South Sudan Continues to Bleed, Its Women Rise in Resistance

Amidst the unrelenting conflict in South Sudan, women are emerging as a powerful force for peace, anchored by their faith and a steadfast resolve to end the violence. As they confront war and oppression, the role of the church becomes ever more critical.

🕊️ Will the church stand in solidarity with these courageous women, or will it remain silent in the face of systems that perpetuate violence? The future of peace in South Sudan—and far beyond—depends on how we answer this urgent call.
