TOPIC:- THE DANGER OF THE LATTER DAYS

TEXTS:- 1 Timothy 4:1-3, 6-7.

The Spirit makes it clear that as time goes on , some are going to give up on the faith and chase after demonic illusions put forth by professional liars.

These liars have lied so well and for so long that they have lost their capacity for truth. They will tell you not to get married. They 'll tell you not to eat this or that good-looking perfectly good food God created to be eaten heartily and with thanksgiving by believers who know better. ( v. 1-2 msg bible)

If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things , thou shall be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and if good doctrine whereunto thou hast attained. (v. 6, KJV )

Stay clear of silly stories that get dressed up as religion.-no spiritual flabbiness, please! (v.7. MSG BIBLE)

TOPIC:- REDEEMING THE TIME {19/09/2021
TEXTS:- EPHESIANS 5:15--17
" See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise. Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise but understanding what the will of the Lord is".
INTRODUCTION:- The word " Redeeming" here means ' to rescue or recover our time from waste and to employ it for great and important purposes. ( Why) Because the days are evil.
Life is very brief here and it can be taken away in a twinkling of an eye. Life is also full of enticements and temptations which is competing with our time.
Whereas time is given to us for most valuable purposes and there are things enough to do to occupy it all. If you claim you have done and finished all your duty, Is there nothing else to do in order to gain a useful knowledge for self improvement to become a better you for your family, for the society and for the kingdom of Christ ? Is there no more prayers to pray to make your moral and spiritual life better? Does it mean there's no more souls to save? Surely there are things we can still do than to waste our precious time in frivolous or unprofitable things.
However the great Apostle through the Holy Spirit is talking to us also in a broader sense to redeem our time . That is, from the time you are born again until we sleep in Christ or raptured above, this time has been given to you to live and act right it must therefore not be wasted again. We have wasted enough time before our conversion. We are told here what to do to redeem this time.

I . WALK CAREFULLY. v. 15a
A. Negatively. Not as fools. v 15a The Hebrew word for ' fool' is " nabal" while the Greek word for it is" aphron". Both mean, a person without sense or without reason.
Who is this individual? Let's look briefly at his profile.
1. A fool says in his heart there's no God. { Psl 14:1}
2. A fool give his time and attention to ephemeral and temporal things that contribute nothing to his eternity.
3. A fool always believes their own way is right. " The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice"{ Pro 12:15 }
4. A fool has no interest in improving himself. " Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions"{ Pro 18:2 }
5 .A fool is usually careless about his spiritual life and his personal relationship with God. { Luke 12:15-21} A fool can be educated , handsome and successful but still be a full in God's sight.
6. A fool make jest and defend their sinful life. " Fools make fun of guilt..." { Pro 14:9 }
B. Positively. As wise. v. 15b That is, being careful and sensible.
1. Plan your time
a. According to the time of life. ( 70 years ---100.
i. Morning time -- Stage of Learning-- 1--25 years
ii. Afternoon time--Stage of Ex*****on-- 25- 50 years
iii. Evening time--- Stage of Consolidation, Legacy and Rest- 50-- 75years.
iv. Night time----- Stage of Thanksgiving & Expectation-- 75----end
b. According to the time of day. ( 24 hours)
2. Prioritise your activities.
Time is a gift given us by God and is misspent and lost when it is not used judiciously. We must not be ignorant of our duty or neglect our souls. A wise and careful man prioritise his time on these four important areas.
1. His spiritual life { 2 hrs 40 minutes are available everyday for that. It is our time tithe}
2. His business life. Pro 22:29
3. His family life. Eph 5:28
4. His Kingdom life. Heb 10:25, I Cor 15:58

II. WALK DISCERNINGLY. V.17
A . Understand his general will for all christians in the kingdom
1. To be comformed to the image of His Son. Romans 8:29
2. To be sanctified I These 4:3
3. To be given thanks in all things. 1 These 5:18.
B. Understand his specific will for your life in the kingdom.
NB-: "Don't act thoughtlessly, but try to understand what God wants you to do" { Eph 5:17,
NLB }
1. Our Lord understood what God wanted him to do here, and he did it. John 6:28-29, 4:34.
2. Apostle Paul understood what God wanted him to do here and he did it . Acts 26:19, Gal 1:16, Rom 11:13.
3. Many others know what God wants them to do here and they are doing it.
The question is do you know your place in the kingdom? If you knew, are you occupying the place ? Are you living your life only for yourself , pursuing earthly pleasures only or you are fulfilling your specific purpose of being here?
Are you fully committed or you are casually doing it ? This is the Redeeming time.

CONCLUSION :- The Holy Spirit through this great Apostle Paul is admonishing us to be very careful how we live. We must not live a casual, indifferent and a life without direction. We must be focused about two things 1. To walk carefully in order to make every opportunity God gives us count . Night is coming when no one will be able to work. Jn 9:4
2. To walk discerningly in order to understand our destiny in life and to commit to it with absolute diligence, so that our running may not be in vain and our work useless { Phil 2:16, Gal 2:2} It is possible to major in minor and neglect the major. May we not run this eternal race in vain in Jesus Name.

TOPIC:- BUILDING A BEFITTING HOUSE FOR GOD.

TEXTS:- Philipians 1:6-7
" Being Confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus". It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God's grace with me."
INTRODUCTION:- We are presently embarking on a huge church building project with nothing in our hands save huge faith in our hearts. Faith in Jehovah Jireh who is able to do abundantly much more than we ask or can imagine. In researching to find out whether we are the first people who started church building project that will gulp millions of naira without a million naira in the church bank account , I found out these things.
A. A certain congregation was about to build a new church building. The building committee drafted the following four resolutions.
1. We shall build a new church building.
2. The new building will be located on the site of the old one.
3. The materials in the old are to be used in the new one.
4. We shall continue to use the old building until the new one is completed .
Summary :- They never built a new building. Their ideas sound good but they were not prepared to take chances.

B. Jim Bakker of PTL Club. Popular televangelist.
He was going to build the world,s largest church building. To seat 30,000 people plus TV Studio, 200 conference rooms, and parking lot underneath. The cost was estimated at $100 million.
Summary. Well planned. But it never happened.

C. Robert Schuller, the author of Tough time never last, Tough people do.
Robert Schuller was a poor farmer's son. He started his ministry with only $500 dollar. But he and his church members built the largest glass building called Crystal Cathedral worth of $ 20 ml in 1980. They embarked on this remarkable project with nothing much in their hands but faith in God and self belief.
These are some of Robert Schuller's belief which his church members too emraced.
*If it has to be, it's up to me.
* If you can dream it, you can do it.
* The only place where your dream becomes impossible is in your own thinking
* Better to do something imperfectly than to do nothing perfectly.
* Problems are not stop signs, they are guidelines.
* If you listen to your fears , you will die, never knowing what a great person you might have been.
* Spectacular achievement is always preceded by unspectacular preparation.
Summary:- They built a big church and office like no other, completely of glass and steel.

Having said all these, I don't take anything away from preparation. But we have been waiting for years to embark on this project and now we have taken a giant step of faith . We believe Jehovah Jireh will provide for us and our benefactors in Jesus Name.
There are some words in this scripture that I want us to look at very closely.
1. CONFIDENCE. V. 6a." Being CONFIDENT of this..."
2. CONCERN. V.7. " I have you in my heart..."
3. COOPERATION. V.7b." ... All of you SHARE in God's grace with me.."
4. COMPLETION. V.6. " Will carry it out to COMPLETION"
A good work has begun among us too, we must have: "

1. A SOLID CONFIDENCE. " Being confident of this"6
* We must have confidence in God. Nehemiah and his people had Confidence in God. They built the broken walls of Jerusalem and also built a new church.
*We must have confidence in ourselves . The builders of Tower of Babel had confidence in themselves. God attested to their confidence. The Bible says, God is at work in us.( Phil 2: 13)We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.( Phil 4: 13) If we are going to build this project successfully, we must have confidence in God as as believing in ourselves. We must not allow our present financial situation to dictate for us. " The God of the Bible is not weak, he is strong, He is the almighty. Those who have confidence in Him act with boldness believing that he will accomplish his own purpose.
We must know whom we have believed. I Tim 1:12.
Joshua and Caleb demonstrated this while others demonstrated lack of confidence in God and belief in themselves. Numbers 14. It cost the multitude their lives.

2. A SERIOUS CONCERN. V. 7" I have you in my heart...."
We must have this project in our hearts.
* Having it in our hearts will make us pray for this project.
* Having it in our hearts will make us spend and be spent for this project.
It was a serious concern for everyone during the building of Tabernacle in the wilderness. Exd 36:5-7
*David was told by God not to build a temple for him, but his concern for the project made him provided a lot of materials for the project. " With all my resources I have provided for the temple of my God..."( I Chro 29:2-9)
*All the leaders of families, tribes and commanders of army to gave.( 6-8)
* All the members too gave.( V.9)
The concern of the early church for the work of the ministry made them sold their properties and brought the money to the church. Acts 4:34 says, ".... For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostle,s feet...". Anania and his wife had partial concern and died for it. Acts 5: 1-11.

3. A GENUINE COOPERATION. V 7b " Whether I am chains or.... all of you SHARE in God's grace with me""
The Philipians church members shared with their minister in the work of the ministry. There was cooperation between apostle Paul and the Philippians church..Phil 2:14-15.
We must not blame or slander ourselves but we must be pulling together.
The people answered Nehemiah" Let us start rebuilding..." (Neh 2:18). Everybody was involved. ( Neh 3:1--32)
4. A GLORIOUS COMPLETION. V. 6" ... Will carry it on to COMPLETION..."
God always finishes what he starts. God's resources is unlimited. It does not rest upon our pockets. Men fail to complete what they have started by a loss of means, change of mind, or by reason of death. It is not so with our Lord.
Moses and his people started, they completed and they dedicated.
Solomon and his people started ,they completed and they dedicated.
Nehemiah and his people started, they completed and they dedicated.
We have started, we shall complete and we shall dedicate soonest in Jesus Name.
CONCLUSION
Our Confidence in God must not be abused. It must ginger us to pray for this project and contribute immensely financially. It should give fervency to our concern and cooperation.
PRAYER POINTS.
Anchor scripture II Cor. 9:10. " He who supplies seed to the shower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed..."
1. For ourselves.
2. For our Benefactors.
3. For whosoever will.
4. For glorious completion soonest.

TOPIC:- DO NOT FORGET IF YOU STILL HAVE BREATH.
31- 01- 2021.
TEXTS :- Psalm 103: 1-2. 150:6.
"Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, my soul,and forget not all his benefits--- who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's."( Psl 103:1-5)
" Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD".( Psl 150:6)

INTRODUCTION:- In this world of never ending activities, of which this year too won't be an exception. Everybody, everywhere will be busy doing something or the other. in the midst of all these, too many times we tend to forget the never to be forgotten things. That is, how good God is to us. However forgetfulness comes with a penalty. Being busy sometimes may make you forget your breakfast, your loved ones birthday and many other important things. You can apologise for the breach on all those things. But you must never ever forget to be thankful to the ones who gave you breath. The bible says, in Deut 8:10 " When you have eaten your fill be sure to praise the Lord your God..."( NLT)

I. EXAMPLES OF THOSE WHO FORGOT.
1. Nebuchadnezzar . Dan 4: 28-37.
2. Herod Acts 12:21-23.
3. Psl 9:17 " The wicked go down to the realm of the dead, all the nations that forget God."
4. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God, nor gave thanks to him... therefore God gave them over..."( Rom 1:21,24.)
If you forget everything always remember that at creation God breathed upon statue of clay and it became a living being. Consequently the source of all your activities is that breath in you.
☆What you called beauty is that breath.
☆ What you call handsomeness is that breath.
☆ All your pride depend upon that breath.
☆ All your plans daily, weekly, monthly and yearly hang on that breath.
Therefore in the morning, if that breath is still there, praise Him for it. If it is still there in the noon, give the praise for it. In the night after the days activities, if you get back home with that breath intact, be grateful to God. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Nothing as more important to you than that breath.

II. REASONS TO PRAISE HIM.
1. A Room to sleep. ☆Homeless people are everywhere.
2. Beggars are on the increase, because many have lost their dignity. They beg without shame for their daily bread. ☆There are people who wake up in the morning, having no place of work to go and no assurance of food for the day . Yours is different. Do not forget to thank God for it.
3. Government and Private hospitals are overwhelmed with all kinds of sick people. ☆Various pharmacies, chemists and community nurses are making their living through the sick. Yet you and your children are healthy and always on the go. Do not forget to be grateful.
4. Don't ever complain of having no new attire to put on. What happens to the old ones?. There are people with no old or new ones.
☆There are people who could afford all kinds of new clothes but sickness and death prevented them.
☆ Do you still have your breath, Jump up and dance unto the Lord.
5. This year will have it's own challenges to be encountered by everyone.
☆In the midst of whatever challenges you may face , after all said and done, if your breath is still there, do not forget the word, let everything that has breath praise God.
6. Can you mention one reason why God keep you alive today.
☆Do you think if he deals with you in justice and not in mercy you will still be alive and well?. Do not forget this benefits. Be grateful for it.
7. Give Him praises as you expect various answers to your prayers.

CONCLUSION. Being grateful to God is non- negotiable. Let's do it consciously, consistently and conscientiously.

THEME:- THE MIRACLE WORKING GOD.
TEXT:- JOHN 5:17
End of our Annual 2 weeks new year Prayer.
24/ 01/ 2021.
TOPIC:- YOU SHALL LACK NO GOOD THING.
TEXTS:- PSALM 34:10,
" The young lions do lack and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing".

JOB 4:10-11.
" The roaring of the lion,and the voice of the fierce lion and the teeth of the young lions are broken. The old lion perisheth for lack of prey, and the stout lion's wheels are scattered abroad ".
All categories of lions in our two texts represent power and self reliance .
I. THE STRUGGLE WHICH ALWAYS FAIL.
" The young lions do lack and suffer hunger" ( 10a)
Lion among all other animals is an emblem of supreme strength and confidence. But despite their strength, Speed,boldness, tactics teeth and claws they still fail to catch their prey. And even when they did another animal can robs them of it. Hence they even lack and hunger.
The meaning here is that people who rely upon violent effort, strength, cheating and robbing etc to achieve success in life often fail. For even when they get it there is neither peace nor satisfaction.
" Ecclesiastes 5:10, states " He that loves money will never be satisfied with money....
Plato said " No wealth can ever make a bad man at peace with himself ". That is, if you get your success by crooks and hooks, you can never have peace and rest here and hereafter.
These lion-- like men struggle today to succeed through many means. Because :
1 . THEY SEE LIFE AS A PLATFORM FOR BATTLE . " From whence come WARS AND FIGHTINGS... YE LUST AND KILL...YE FIGHT AND WAR, yet ye have not...." (Jam 4:4)
Such people fight for everything. Fight for wives, husbands, money, business. Positions. Their prayer or song is all about war. They maim and kill to succeed like a lion. Many politicians are in this group. By force and by fire they must get to the top. Such success is a cut throat one.

2 . THEY SEE LIFE AS A PLATFORM FOR ACQUIRING WEALTH . Pro 10:2, " Tainted wealth has no lasting value but right living can save your life" Pro 21:6, " Making a fortune by a lying tongue ( or pen) is a vanishing mist, a deadly pursuit".
So they engage in all kinds of illegality. Yahoo operation. Importation of fake drugs and materials. Armed Robbery, Kidnappings, Co***ne Pushing, Rituals etc.

3. THEY SEE LIFE AS A PLATFORM FOR PLEASURE .
Consequently they engage in all kinds of Illicit Behaviour.
Drunkenness, Use of drugs for enhancement. Prostitution, Concubinage, LGBTQ, Be******ty and others. No one can achieve true success and happiness by these means. Hence they lack and hunger. They can acquire worldly possessions but no peace and rest within them. A person that lives only for pleasure is dead while alive. I Tim 5:6.

4. THEY SEE LIFE AS A PLATFORM FOR COMPETITION . Luke 12: 15-21.
No one must outshine them. I must own the best car. I must put on the most beautiful clothes and shoe. If others are yellow in complexion like them, they must be yellower. If others are black, they must be blacker. They must be best among equals. Covetousness and envy will not allow them have peace and rest. He knows about law, medicine, engineering, accountancy, Pastoral. They must win all arguments. He is a Jack of all trades but Master of None.

These are ways by which unbelievers see life and pursue it aggressively but they still fail woefully.
How do you see life?

II. THE SEEKING WHICH ALWAYS FIND.
" But they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing"(10b) Note that, it is those who seek the Lord. Not money. Not pleasure.
A. THE RULE FOR SEEKING.
1. Seek Him diligently early. Pro 8:17
2. Seek Him by Communion.
3. Seek Him by Obedience.
B. THE REWARD FOR SEEKING. "... Shall lack no good thing".

CONCLUSION.
It is instructive to trace all our goodness to its proper Source---God. He has given us His choicest and greatest gift-- Jesus Christ. Therefore the inferior ones wont be withheld. "He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for
us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? ( Rom 8:32) All things will ultimately work for our good. (Rom 8:28)
Nothing human or material can be a substitute for God and His love.
Let's seek God's will primarily and his interests this year and all other needful things shall be added unto us.
DECLARATION
This year I shall not pursue success or money illegally and sinfully. But I will seek God with all my heart and I shall lack no good thing.

THEME:-. THE MIRACLE WORKING GOD.

TOPIC:- DO AS YOU HAVE SAID.
TEXTS:- II SAM 7:25,
" And now O LORD God, the word that thou has spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, ESTABLISH IT FOREVER AND DO AS THOU HAST SAID".
INTRODUCTION.
God is primarily moved by His word, but seldom by human emotions and rhetoric.
He has great delight in people who approach Him with His words or remind him of it. Because it shows they have hope and faith in His word/ promise. "Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou has caused me to hope" ( Psl 119:49)
God has exalted his word above His Name and so He has great respect for His word. God challenge us to bring to him the strong reasons why he should hearken to our prayers.( Isaiah 41:21) There is no stronger reason than His word and to tell Him to " do as He has said".
We are also advised to take God's word with us when we approach His throne for petition. "Take with you words..."( Hosea 14:2)
David in our text here did so.
Today we wish to approach the throne of Grace with God's word/ in our prayers.
In order to do this we must know what God said. There are thousands of such promises by which we can approach God's throne of mercy.
I. GOD'S PROMISES TO YOU IN HIS WORD.
1. For the Barren-- Psl 113:9 "God makes the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. You can approach God with this. " Do as you have said".
2. For the Poor-- Psl 113: 7-8. "God raises up the poor out of the dust, and lifts the needy out of the dunghill that He may set him up with Princes, even with the princes of his people. Tell Him to do as He has said. Phil 4:19, Deut 8:20, Psl 84:11, Pro 22:4, Jer 29:11,
3. For Protection and Preservation --Ps 91:7-8, 10-12
A thousand shall fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand but shall not come near you.
God said, there shall no evil befall you neither shall any plaque come near your dwelling ( why) Because He shall give his angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways. Hence, they shall carry you up in their hands lest you dash your foot against a stone.( Psl 91:7-8, 10-12.) Lord "do as you have said."
4. For victory over your Enemies.
God said he that digs a pit shall fall therein: He that rolls a stone, it will return upon him.( Pro 26:27) He said moreover that " He that leads into captivity shall go into captivity..."( Rev 13:10) O, Lord, Do as you have said.
5. For Sinners. Jn 6:37, 3: 15.
6. For backsliders. Jer 3:22. God said" Return, you backsliding children, and I will heal your backsliding..." O, Lord, do as you have said.
7. For the sick. Jer 30:17" God said ,For I will restore you to health and heal your wounds. O, Lord, Do as you have said.

II. GOD'S PROMISES TO YOU THROUGH DREAMS. Gen 42:6-9, 40:21. The dream of Joseph and the Butler came to pass. God did as He has said. Tell him to do same with your dreams.

III. PROMISES TO YOU THROUGH VISIONS. Luke I:38. The prayer of Mary after the angelic vision" be it unto me according to your word" really meant" Do as you have said".

IV. GOD'S PROPHECIES TO YOU THROUGH HIS MINISTERS. Hosea 12:13." And by a Prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt and by a Prophet was he preserved."
Pray that God will fulfill all good prophecies he has sent or pronounced upon you by His Ministers. O Lord, do as you have said.

CONCLUSION. Always find out from God's word if a promise is conditional before you pray the prayer. Fulfill the conditions and go ahead to talk to God. No matter your condition there is a promise for you from God that suits your situation. Find it and take it to God.
May the Merciful God hearken to our prayers and do as He has said in our lives in Jesus Name. SHALOM.
