Psalm 37:3-6

Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. 6 He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.

We live in a world we have made busy with so many activities. We pursue things that are generally good for our lives on earth. But we also know that men often pursue things that may not add much to their lives in any meaningful way. In those circumstances, we feel good that we are engaged and not lazy and not wasting our lives away.
There is one sure way to ensure that you are not wasting your life away – when you invest your life, your time, your money and all you have in the work of God’s kingdom. God’s kingdom is eternal and not comparable to anything people are dying for in this life.

We have God’s promise that anyone who dedicates his life to the work of His kingdom shall never lose a thing. The explanation to that is that when you make God’s business your business, then your business becomes His business. As you get busy doing your privileged part in God’s kingdom, He is equally busy building your life and circumstances towards success and fulfillment.
No one can beat God when it comes to giving. He gives to you more than you can imagine. God does more than you can think of or ask; and this promise is for those who have learned to make His service their delight.
Where do you stand in this equation? Every man must answer this for himself.

Prayer
1. Thank God for His unchanging promise to reward all who invest in His kingdom.
2. Pray that when there is an to serve God, you will not be found wanting.
3. Father, help me invest more of my life into the business of Your kingdom.

Declarations
I declare that God’s business is my business. Whatever He has given me in this life I hold as a steward. I will give them all back to Him upon request. My life is set apart for the business of God’s kingdom. Where I am weak, the Holy Spirit will strengthen me, and I declare that I shall never slack in serving my God and Creator in the name of Jesus.

*WATCH YOUR MOUTH*

*Matthew 12:35-37*

_35 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. 36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”_

Today we are meditating on two modes of functioning of the human being that are complimentary and together have the power to bring us good or evil. These are the functioning of our hearts and mouths. If you put it in another way, it becomes the inner workings or desires of our hearts and the words we speak.

The words we speak reveal the state of our hearts. If you want to see what a man holds in his heart, listen to what he says on a regular basis. God is generous enough to give us insight on this issue. He said we will give account of whatever idle word we speak. Now God has qualified the issue. He is specific about the kind of words we will have to answer for: idle words.

Every day people speak and make statements they are not in position to substantiate. Their statements range from comments about simple things in life to the big things that often beat human imagination. That is when people start making all kinds of statements about God and what He has said or done in human history.
I cannot mention some of them here, but God has given us the watchword – by your words you will be justified and by your words you will be condemned. Be careful what you say.

*Prayer*
1. Thank God for always making things clear to us, so we will not be in doubt about His expectations of us.
2. Pray for wisdom and the attitude of obedience to what God has commanded.
3. Father help me bridle my tongue, so I do not commit sin by my words.

*Declarations*
I declare that God has given me a good heart. I shall endeavor to keep my heart clean and rid it of all foolishness. My words shall forever be seasoned, giving life to all who hear. I declare that no words of mine shall send people the way of evil but shall lead them to the presence of God where there are pleasures forever more in the name of Jesus.

*REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE*

*Romans 6:7-11*

_7 For he who has died has been freed from sin. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord._

If you found a rich man’s son in a queue where people are waiting for their turn to receive some used clothes and a small amount of money that can last for a few days, what would be your immediate response? Confused? Full of sympathy? Angry at his father?

The truth is that usually, no rich man’s son who knows he is the only heir to his father’s property will live like a pauper. They walk with their chests out. A few of them become arrogant; but generally, they don’t live like people who have no hope in this life. They know who they are.

The child of God has an identity that surpasses that of the son of the richest man on earth. The problem is that we often do not have the full consciousness of what God has done for us. We often run our lives like we are catching up in this life; not the ones leading our world. If the world is crying about evil and corruption all around, do we stand up as oaks of righteousness? When we reckon ourselves as dead unto sin, the temptations of the world look dim in the light of God’s glory and grace. Be who God has made you.

*Prayer*
1. Thank God for lifting you above principalities and powers and giving you power over sin.
2. Pray for a constant dependence on the Holy Spirit so as to walk in constant victory over sin.
3. Father, please let your anointing forever help me prevail over temptation.

*Declarations*
I declare that all power belongs to my Father and He has endowed me with His power through Jesus Christ. God has lifted me above principalities and powers. God has equipped me to live in righteousness. In the name of Jesus, I shall not fail my heavenly Father. I declare by the grace of God that I shall honor Him by my righteous living in the name of Jesus.

*MORE THAN A* *CONQUEROR*

*Romans 8:36-39*

_36 As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord._

The bible, referring to the believer as more than a conqueror, is not a slogan; it is not a cliché; it is a profound and powerful declaration. Unfortunately, it is becoming one of the declarations that has become a jargon, and people say it without fully grasping its true meaning.
If you are more than a conqueror, it means you are not the one who fought and conquered. In our case Jesus is the Conqueror. He faced the devil squarely in human form and defeated him. The victory over the devil happened for the whole world to see; so that no one will have any doubts. Jesus was openly crucified. He made statements on the cross that showed He was not afraid of dying. He knew He would resurrect. He did resurrect, affirming His power over the devil and over death.
Jesus did not call us to fight the devil. In fact, it is the devil who comes at us. All Jesus calls us to do is to stand fast in Him. When we stand in Him, we will resist the devil and he will flee. That is the portion of being more than a conqueror. Jesus’ stamp of victory is our portion.

*Prayer*
1. Thank God for the open victory Jesus won over the devil which has empowered those of us who believe.
2. Ask God for faith to always stand fast in Christ as more than a conqueror.
3. Father, please help me abide in You always and empower me to experience being more than a conqueror.

*Declarations*
I declare that the battle for my life is already fought and won. Jesus fought and won it for me so I do not have to fight all over again. I am more than a conqueror. My victory is sealed in His blood. Therefore, no amount of threat from the devil can knock me down. I declare that I walk in divine victory. I will continue to be more than a conqueror throughout this life in the name of Jesus.

*ENJOY THE NEW LIFE*

*1 Peter 3:10-12*

_10 For “He who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit. 11 Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it. 12 For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the LORD is against those who do evil.”_

This passage starts with good news. It is about life and good days. It is simply pointing to one of God’s provisions for humanity. God created us and blessed us and placed us in a dwelling place complete with all we will need for as long as we live on earth. God says the plans He has for us are plans for good and not evil; to bring us to an expected end. All good gifts around us are sent from heaven above. His plans for us are always good.

God has poured out His blessings upon us; but there is a condition that guarantees that we will enjoy the good life. It is to turn away from evil and move on to do good deeds; then He mentions also putting a bridle on your tongue.

Scripture elsewhere instructs that life and death are in the power of the tongue. What you speak has great power to shape your life. Here we are exhorted to desist from speaking lies and deceiving others. For as long as your tongue has not learned to speak truth, you are not ready to see good days. An unbridled tongue is far away from the fountains of life.

What is in your heart is what your tongue proclaims. Keep a good heart, bridle your tongue and no one can deny you of the good life.

*Prayer*
1. Thank God for His continued showering of good things on you and your loved ones.
2. Ask for a good heart and a controlled tongue as you live your life.
3. Father, please help me not to stand in the way of enjoying the good life You give.

*Declarations*
I declare that my heart belongs to God. The Holy Spirit is changing my heart to become like God’s. With a good heart, I am learning to bring my tongue under control. I speak only life; I speak only the truth; I pursue peace by what I say to people. I declare by divine authority that I am on the way to enjoy good life and good days in the name of Jesus.

LIVE BY THE SPIRIT

Job 32:6-9

_6 So Elihu, the son of
Barachel the Buzite, answered and said: “I am young in years, and you are very old; Therefore, I was afraid, and dared not declare my opinion to you. 7 I said, ‘Age should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.’ 8 But there is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding. 9 Great men are not always wise, nor do the aged always understand justice.

Let me take you back to creation of man. The account says God breathed into the clay He had formed and it became a living soul. This early narration does not give us the entire picture about our constitution as mankind. Subsequent presentations by God’s servants make the picture clearer. Today we are learning from Job.

Job speaks of a spirit in man. Other scriptural passages talk about body, soul and spirit as man’s composition. Job makes a very important observation here, particularly about the human spirit. He says God gives the human spirit understanding. In other words, God fills our human spirit with all we need to know and the understanding of truth revealed.

Contrary to what some people have taught generally and casually, that long life teaches wisdom, the book of Job draws attention to the fact that it is not necessarily so. It is assumed, or expected that the longer you live, the wiser you become. We all know that it is not always the case. You don’t need rocket science to know that there are people who have lived long but are not at all wise.

When someone does not fear the Lord, he has no access to wisdom. His spirit cannot receive from God. It takes only a human spirit that is yielded to the Holy Spirit to be wise, and continue to live as a wise person.

Prayer
1. Thank God for creating you with the capacity to receive knowledge, understanding and wisdom.
2. Pray for your spirit man to be always quickened and alert to receive the truth of God.
3. Father, please help my spirit to be sharp to receive from the Holy Spirit.

Declarations
I declare that I am made in the full image of God. I am a spirit therefore I am able to receive directly from God. I have the Holy Spirit of God living in me as a child of God. Henceforth I live with my spirit sensitive and alert to the Holy Spirit. I declare that I no longer live by my flesh but by my spirit in the name of Jesus.

*STAND*

*Ephesians 6:10-13*

_10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand._

There is this truth about Christian warfare that is often not clear to many. The Apostle Paul unveils this through his letter to the church in Ephesus. It is captured in one simple but profound word; STAND. And having done all, to stand. The Apostle is teaching that when we have put on the whole armor of God, all that is left for us to do is to stand.

He never listed the specific things we should do. He only said we should stand. When you stand, there are so many implications. First it means you cannot be moved; you cannot be uprooted. When you stand, the enemy coming to attack you becomes afraid and runs. When you stand, you are in a position to make use of the entire armor you have put on.

The bible commands us to stand because when we stand, the gates of hell shall not prevail against us. This comes from the fact that Jesus has done all that needs to be done to the enemy on our behalf. Jesus defeated the devil on our behalf. There is nowhere we are commanded to kill the devil or destroy him. We don’t go looking for the devil to destroy him.
We concentrate on doing the works we have been saved to do and if Satan comes against us, we resist him in the power of the Holy Spirit.

*Prayer*
1. Thank God for the victory Jesus won over the devil for humanity when He died on Calvary.
2. Ask for faith to stand in the victory Jesus won for you and the entire mankind.
3. Father, please help me stand and appropriate Christ’s victory for my life.

*Declarations*
I declare that the battle against the devil is already won. Jesus defeated Satan openly for all to see at Calvary. I have a portion in that victory, and I stand firm on Jesus’ finished work to walk in continued victory. I declare by divine authority that I am already a winner in the name of Jesus.
