Last Friday, we visited a brick kiln community where many Christian families are living in extreme poverty and modern-day slavery.
These families spend long days making bricks under harsh conditions, yet remain trapped in deep cycles of debt and exploitation. Because of ongoing debt bo***ge, many families are forced into generations of labor with little hope of freedom.
The most urgent needs in this community are clean drinking water and food. Many families do not have access to safe water, and some survive on just one meal a day. Children are growing up in conditions of severe deprivation and hardship.
But beyond poverty, there is also deep oppression. Families shared how debt bo***ge often leaves them vulnerable to abuse, threats, violence, forced labor, and exploitation. In such systems of control, women and children are especially at risk, and fear is a daily reality.
Yet even here, the light of Christ is not absent.
We spent time with the families, prayed with them, worshipped together, and shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There is no church in this area, and many had never truly heard or experienced the message of hope in Jesus. As the Word of God was shared, we saw hearts soften and a deep hunger for truth emerge.
The response was powerful, many expressed a strong desire for a church to be established so they can grow in faith and continue learning about Jesus.
Our commitment is not a one-time visit, but ongoing follow-up, discipleship, prayer, and practical support for bringing hope, food, clean water, and the love of Christ to these forgotten communities.
These families may be unseen by society, but they are not unseen by God. 🙏
