It is highly commendable to wear a ring on the right hand, although
some traditions do allow the ring to be worn on the left also. However, if the ring has any precious stone set in it, or has any holy
engravings on it, it should be removed before going to the toilet. In one of his traditions, Salman Farsi (a.s) narrates a conversation
which took place between the Holy Prophet (a.s) and Imam Ali (

a.s) in
which the former gave some instructions regarding the wearing of
rings. The Prophet (saw) advised the Imam (a.s) to wear the ring on his
right hand, as by doing so, one would be included among the muqarrabin
(those near to Allah)....Imam Ali (a.s) further asked which ring he
should wear, and the Prophet (saw)advised him to have a ring set with
red Aqiq (Cornelian), as this stone had affirmed the Oneness of Allah,
the Prophethood of Muhammad (saw) , the vicegerency (Khilafat) of Ali
(a.s) and Paradise for the friends and Shias of Ali (as). Reference: Hilyatul Muttaqin, by Majlisi, chapter #2, page #14

The benefit of Aqeeq is that it creates joy in the heart, is good for
eyesight and it helps illuminate sadness and anger. It is also revered
in other religious and has been in use from the time of Hazrat Adam (
a.s.). It absorbs the rays of the sun and passes these onto the body
and is good for health. Black Aqeeq protects children from envious
eyes. Hazrat Imam Jaffer as-Sadiq (a.s.) has said that a namaz with
Aqeeq is 40 times better than one without it. It is also great thawaab
to use tasbeeh of aqeeq as said by Hazrat Imam Musa e Kazim ( a.s.) There are several hadiths from our Imams recommending us to wear rings
containing Aqeeq and Feeroza. Some of these are:

1) Ma`adh has narrated on the authority of Imam Ali (a.s) saying: The
one who wears an aqeeq ring, God grants him (literally: seals for him)
the peace (al-amn) and faith.

2) Imam Ali (a.s) has said: Wear aqeeq on your rings, you will be
blessed and will be saved from afflictions.

3) Abul Mu'min al-Ansaaree reports that I heard Abu `Abdillah (Imam
Ja`far as-Sadiq (a.s)) saying: The hands that wears Firoza will not see
poverty. Reference: Shaykh al-Tabrasee, Makarimul Akhlaaq, Teheran, 1972, pp. 87-89.
