Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri stated that Tasawwuf plays a vital role in refining human character, moral values, and social conduct. The spiritual session of the “Applied Spirituality and Professional Practices,” organized by Shaykh-ul-Islam Institute of Spiritual Studies at Minhaj University Lahore, was attended by students, researchers, academics, and individuals from diverse professional backgrounds.
Addressing the participants, Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri emphasized that Tasawwuf is not merely a theoretical discipline but a practical way of life that nurtures peace, tolerance, compassion, and spiritual excellence within society. He explained that a true Sufi is one who disciplines the ego and becomes a source of harmony, mercy, and benefit for humanity. Referring to the teachings of Surah Al-Hujurat, he highlighted that believers are bound together through brotherhood, and maintaining unity, reconciliation, and mutual respect despite differences is an essential requirement of faith.
He observed that intolerance, hatred, and social division are among the greatest challenges of the contemporary world, while the teachings of Tasawwuf offer a comprehensive solution through wisdom, patience, ethical conduct, and humanity. He further explained that genuine spirituality lies in ensuring that no person is harmed through one’s words or actions, and that true believers are those from whose hands and tongues others remain safe, as taught by the Holy Prophet ﷺ.
Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri also highlighted the exemplary teachings of renowned Sufi saints including Junayd Baghdadi, Data Ganj Bakhsh, Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, and Nizamuddin Auliya, whose lives reflected the values of love, forgiveness, service to humanity, tolerance, and compassion. He stated that differences of opinion should never transform into hostility; rather, they should remain within the boundaries of knowledge, ethics, and respectful dialogue. According to Sufi teachings, conflicts should be addressed with wisdom, truthfulness, patience, and prayer.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, shields, certificates, and badges were distributed among distinguished guests, organizers, and course participants.
