Pope Francis' choice of Archbishop Américo Aguiar as cardinal is a great pride for all of us who collaborate with him in the organization of WYD Lisbon 2023.

We thank Bishop Américo Aguiar for his dedication his enthusiasm and determination to make our WYD a meeting of all and for all young people! Thank you D. Américo and we pray for you and for the missions that the Church entrusts to you!

The City of Joy is a place of encounter with Jesus where pilgrims will find different experiences of Christian living and joy. They will be challenged to look at their own lives and discover a path in response to God, who calls each one by our own name.

As they cross the city, pilgrims will come across the Vocational Fair, where young people will have the opportunity to enter 150 "houses" of different movements, associations, communities, religious orders, and social projects, which we call Hosts.

In the Park of Forgiveness, young people are called to experience the love and mercy of God in one of the 150 confessionals available, through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

As a space of silence and listening to the Lord, we have a Chapel where we can stop and rest in the hustle and bustle of the city, whether it be the cosmopolitan city or the City of Joy.

The Immaculate Heart of Mary represents Mary's maternal and compassionate love for all humanity. The feast is an opportunity for Catholics to express their devotion to Mary as a model of virtue, intercessor and protector🤲😇

🎉✨The Feast of the Body of Christ, also known as Corpus Christi, originated in the 13th century in the Belgian city of Liege. The feast was officially instituted by Pope Urban IV in 1264🎉✨

👉Did you know that this feast celebrates the presence of the body and blood of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, one of the main doctrines of the Catholic Church? It is a time of adoration and thanksgiving for the representation of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross

👉 A striking feature of this festival in Portugal are the flower carpets that decorate the streets through which the Eucharistic procession passes. The carpets are made with colored flower petals, sawdust, sand and other materials, forming religious designs and images.

It is with great joy that we announce the official names of the main venues where the World Youth Day Lisbon 2023 will take place! 🥁🥁

👣Inspired by the motto “Maria got up and left in a hurry” to meet her cousin Isabel and the fact that Lisbon is known as the city of the Seven Hills, Parque Eduardo VII, where the opening mass will take place, is called - to Meeting Hill.

📍Hill of the Encounter evokes the encounter with Cristo Vivo and the encounter between Maria and Isabel, a true intergenerational encounter, marked by joy.

🤗 It will also be a meeting place for a young Church, which wants to meet everyone. It was also here that Lisbon met, in 1982, Pope St. John Paul II, the much-revered founder of WYD, and because it is also here that young people will meet Pope Francis, for the first time, at WYD Lisbon 2023.

🙌And because we also want this to be a time of grace, Parque Tejo will be called Campo da Graça because this is where pilgrims will go, in thanksgiving, to celebrate the Vigil and the Final Mass of a week that will remain safely in everyone's heart forever.❤️‍🔥

WYD is, in the words of Pope Francis, "an event of grace that awakens, broadens the horizon, strengthens the aspirations of the heart, helps to dream, to look beyond". 💭✨

The WYD Lisbon 2023 Foundation hopes that these designations – Colina do Encontro and Campo da Graça – will last in the memory of all those who participate in WYD2023 and, very especially, in the hearts of all the inhabitants of the city of Lisbon and Loures.🙏🤲🕊️
