یُعرَفُ المُجرِمونَ بِسیمٰھُم
"The criminals will be recognized by their marks."
Explanation:
This verse highlights a scene from the Day of Judgment when all human beings will stand before Allah for accountability. On that day, the sinners (mujrimoon) will not be able to conceal their crimes or wrongdoings because their faces and appearances will clearly reflect their guilt. The "marks" mentioned in the verse refer to visible signs that will distinguish the guilty from the righteous.
The faces of the guilty may appear darkened, humiliated, or ashamed, as mentioned in other parts of the Quran.
Their actions and deeds will manifest in ways that expose their guilt. They may carry an expression of fear, disgrace, or regret.
In the broader context of Surah Ar-Rahman, which repeatedly asks, "فَبِاَیِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّکُمَا تُکَذِّبَانِ" ("So which of the favors of your Lord will you deny?"), this verse emphasizes the favor of justice, where no wrongdoer will escape punishment, and no righteous person will be wronged.
Thus, it reflects both the mercy and justice of Allah on the Day of Judgment.
