The Parish of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima is the second parish that was established in the City of Valenzuela on March 7, 1961. The church was initially located in Gregorio Araneta Machineries Incorporated (GAMI) along McArthur Highway until a permanent church was built from 1965 to 1982. On June 12, 1976 the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) declared it as a Nati
onal Shrine to foster greater devotion to Our Lady of Fatima in the Philippines. The Department of Tourism declared the Shrine a Tourist Spot on December 3, 1982. It was consecrated on December 11 of the same year with 14 archbishops and bishops leading the rites including the late Jaime Cardinal Sin and the former Papal Nuncio Archbishop Bruno Torpigliani. In celebration of its Golden Anniversary as a Parish on March 7, 2011, the City Council of Valenzuela declared Our Lady of Fatima as the Patroness of the City of Valenzuela on February 28, 2011. It is the home of the National Pilgrim Image of Our Lady of Fatima, the image of the first EDSA People Power Revolution and the Asian and National Center of the World Apostolate of Fatima (WAF). It continues to be a beacon of light up to this day for hundreds of thousands of faithful and Marian devotees who flock to the Shrine for prayer and blessing.
