With joy and gratitude, the VDLR parishioners gathered to celebrate the 66th birthday of our beloved parish priest, Rev. Fr. Jovilo B. Bongay.

Following the Holy Mass, the community shared a simple yet heartfelt salo-salo with the celebrant, expressing their love, appreciation and prayers for his continued guidance and ministry.

This devotion traces its origins to the visions of Saint Faustina Kowalska in the 1930s, where she recorded in her diary the call of Christ to spread the message of Divine Mercy to the whole world. In her revelations, Jesus expressed His desire for a feast dedicated to His mercy, to be celebrated on the Sunday after Easter, as a reminder that no sin is greater than His love and forgiveness.

On this day, we are reminded that mercy is the very heart of the Gospel. The image of Jesus, with rays of red and pale light flowing from His heart, symbolizes the blood and water poured out for humanityโ€™s salvation. It is an invitation to approach Him with confidence, especially through prayer, confession, and acts of compassion toward others.

As we celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday, may we open our hearts to receive His forgiveness and extend that same mercy to those around us. No matter how heavy our burdens or how deep our struggles, His love remains unfailing.

Sharing Godโ€™s mercy through prayer and devotion this Divine Mercy Sunday.

In celebration of the Second Sunday of Easter, also known as Divine Mercy Sunday, our brothers from Knights of Columbus Council 17946 โ€“ VDLR Parish joyfully distributed rosary bracelets with prayer guides to the faithful, encouraging a deeper devotion to the Divine Mercy and the Blessed Virgin Mary.
