PENTECOST SUNDAY
May 23

GOSPEL: John 20:19-23
He [Jesus] breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” (v.22)

REFLECTION:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 🥳🎊🎉
Today is the last day of the Easter Season and the day when the True Church of Christ was born. Easter ends with a reminder for all of us that we were saved by Christ because of a mission: to share the Good News of Salvation we have received from Christ to the whole world – the mission of God. It is not the Church who has a mission but, it is the mission of God who has a Church. The Holy Spirit was with us in this mission. The Holy Spirit is our guide. The Holy Spirit is our way. It was not only the apostles who received the Holy Spirit but, we, who were baptized, are with the Holy Spirit always. In fact, our own Bodies are the Temple of the Holy Spirit. So, we, who were baptized, are part of this Mission of God because we are part of the Church and Holy Spirit is with us. May this Solemnity of Pentecost and the Birthday of our Church remind us always to be a living witness of Christ’s Love and come to share this Love of Christ to those who need it.

PRAYER:
Grant, we pray, Almighty God, that the splendor of your glory may shine forth upon us and that, by the bright rays of the Holy Spirit, the light of your light may confirm the hearts of those born again by your grace. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever. Amen.

SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT
February 28

GOSPEL: Mark 9:2-10
After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John and led them up a high mountain apart by themselves. And He was TRANSFIGURED before them, and His clothes become dazzling white, such as no fuller on earth could bleach them. (v.2-3)

REFLECTION:
In the Gospel, we witness the Transfiguration of our Lord. The clothes of our Lord became a dazzling white unusual to man’s sight. Whiteness means purity. The Transfiguration of our Lord calls each one of us to make our lives pure. We may not have the ability to Transfigure like our Lord but we do have a numerous opportunity every second to change our hearts for good and make it pure and as white as the clothes of our Lord. Remember that those whose hearts are pure can see God (Matthew 5:8).

PRAYER:
God our Father, help us to hear your Son. Enlighten us with your word, that we may find the way to your glory. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. AMEN.

MEMORIAL of the BLESSED VIRGIN MARY
OUR LADY of LOURDES
February 11
(World Day of the Sick)

HISTORY
Our Blessed Mother appeared eighteen times to St. Bernadette Soubirous in the cave of Lourdes, France. The apparitions happened between February 11 and July 16, 1858. Bernadette was asked by Our Lady to always pray the rosary for the conversion of sinners and visit her at the cave every after 15 days of which she never failed. On the apparition of February 25, Our Lady asked Bernadette to dig on the ground and a spring came forth which were later associated with miraculous cures. Nowadays, three million people, among those are 50,000 sick and disabled, go to Lourdes each year for healing. That is why this day was later decreed as the WORLD DAY OF THE SICK. But what is considered as great miracles are the conversion of sinners, renewal of faith and greater zeal for God's service of those who come for pilgrimage. It was also in this cave that Our Lady, when asked about her name replied, "I am the Immaculate Conception", affirming the Marian dogma three years after its proclamation.

REFLECTION
When St. Bernadette was asked with this question: "Is our Blessed Mother beautiful?"
Her answer was "Oh! Oh! Yes indeed! And even more than that! So lovely that when you have seen her once, you would willingly die to see her again!" May our fervor to see God and our Blessed Mother increase, so that we may submit ourselves to good works and prayer.

PRAYER (Collect Prayer from the Roman Missal)
Grant us, O merciful God, protection in our weakness, that we, who keep the Memorial of the Immaculate Mother of God, may with the help of her intercession, rise up from our iniquities. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us.
