Situated at Barangay Pacita 1, the Santo Rosario Parish is one of the most notable churches in the City of San Pedro. It houses the image of the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, and said to be the first Roman Catholic parish in San Pedro that is dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
In preparation for its establishment as a parish, in 1981, Bishop Pedro Bantigue of the Diocese of San Pablo has appointed Rev. Fr. Rey Amante as its Administrator. A year later, Fr. Amante was succeeded by Msgr. Mario Rafael Castillo, and within the same year, the foundations of the church structure were laid in a 3,000-square meter property donated by Don Federico Campos, owner of the La Paz Housing and Development Corporation. While the construction of the Church was ongoing, on 16 October 1983, Bishop Bantigue canonically erected the Parish and made Msgr. Castillo as its inaugural parish priest. The structure was completed in 1986, with the Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, Archbishop Bruno Torpigliani leading the churchโs dedication.
The Parish was designed in a modest modernist manner, in line with the architectural conventions at the time of its construction. Its facade has a triangular shape, with its two sides frame the roof system and its apex bearing a cross. The same triangular shape also frames the Marian anagram, indicating that the church is under the protection of Mary. Its belfry showcases an electronic carillon, installed in 2002 and said to be the first to be installed in the entire Laguna Province. To further indicate its Marian patronage, the church was painted blue, which was the liturgical color for the Virgin Mary. A large garden showing various saints and the Stations of the Crosses can also be seen in front of the Church.
In recognition of its significant role in the growth and development of Barangay Pacita 1, in 2023, the Barangay Resolution No. 23-152 of the Sangguniang Barangay of Pacita 1 has declared the Church as one of their Important Immovable Cultural Properties.
