Let this celebration mark a fresh beginning in our devotion to Our Lady of Salvation. May we honor her not only with words, but by drawing ever closer to her Son, Jesus Christ โ€” whom she always leads us to. Our Lady of Salvation, pray for us!

May the Lord bless our parish and every family through the maternal intercession of our Blessed Mother. It is truly fitting that we give Mary, our Mother, the honor and love she deserves.

ANNOUNCEMENT

NOVENA AND FEAST OF OUR LADY OF SALVATION

This evening, August 13, 2026 at 5:30 PM, we began our Novena and Mass in honor of Our Lady of Salvation, Secondary Patroness of our Parish.

In the past, we honored Our Lady chiefly within the Novenary days and Feast of Saint Michael the Archangel culminating on May 8 and again during the Michaelmas celebration, which culminates on September 29. Though this was never intended to diminish her honor, we recognize that the Mother of our Lord deserves a distinct celebration and a more intentional expression of our filial devotion.

Upon consultation with the Parish Pastoral Council, we have established a separate feast in her honor. Following the liturgical tradition of celebrating around the third Saturday of August, we have set this yearโ€™s observance for August 22. This adjustment allows us to give way to the Feast of the Assumption, which falls on the third Saturday of August this year.

As we begin this renewed devotion, let us come together as one parish family to give Our Lady the love, honor, and devotion she deserves โ€” as the Mother of our Savior and our spiritual Mother.

19TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME โ€“ YEAR A

SILENCE AND PRAYER: PRIVILEGED SPACE IN THE EYE OF THE STORM

1. After feeding the crowd, Jesus sent His disciples ahead by boat while He went up the mountain to pray. Late that night, as their boat struggled against wind and waves, He came to them walking on the water. Terrified, they cried out until He spoke: โ€œTake courage, it is I; do not be afraid.โ€

2. Jesus finds strength in prayer, one with the Father. On Mount Horeb, Elijah discovered God not in the magnitude, strength and spectacle of the wind, earthquake, or fire but in sheer silence, a gentle breeze. So too: in the eye of every storm, God draws near not in noise, but in hearts that are calm, silent, humble and docile. From that intimate union, Jesus stepped forth , the Lord of the waves.

3. The storm is never a sign God has left us; it is often where He shows Himself most clearly, rearranging our lives for good. Turbulent waters stand for all that threatens us. The boat is a synodal Church, pilgrim people of God journeying together in faith. And Jesus walking on the waves declares: He is Lord over all, our companion along the way. No storm is greater than His power. No death is stronger than His love. Godโ€™s love always has the last word.

4. Peter stepped out in faith. But when he looked at the wind instead of Jesus, fear overwhelmed him and he began to sink. He cried, โ€œLord, save me!โ€, and Jesus at once reached out and caught his hand. This is our hope: God waits with outstretched arms long before we even know how helpless we are. We cannot save ourselves. Only His hand rescues us.

5. Jesus comes from the mountain of prayer- above all, in the Eucharist, source and summit of Christian life. We too must meet Him there. Ours is a busy, noisy, restless and suffocated world - trusting only in human effort, looking no further beyond this life. But the power that calms the storm is found in the silence of the heart, nurtured by prayer and adoration. There, Godโ€™s gentle presence brings peace, hope settles deep, and our hearts rest in Him. When we look at the waves, we sink. When we look to Jesus, we walk above them.

6. Fear is an illusion. God has conquered death, and His love is stronger than any fear. He does not ask you to calm the storm alone. He asks only that you hold fast to Him. Whatever rages around you, hear His voice: โ€œTake courage, it is I; do not be afraid.โ€ With Christ holding you, you stand firm even above the waves.
