RATIONALE

This year’s AVE MARIA, CROSS, ANCHOR and HEART Making Contest is centered on the theme “AVE MARIA”, highlighting the beauty of Marian devotion celebrated during the traditional Flores de Mayo. The competition seeks to deepen faith, encourage creativity, and strengthen community participation by reflecting on the virtues of the Blessed Virgin Mary through sacred symbols and artistic expression.

The contest features the creation of the letters forming "AVE MARIA", together with the Christian symbols of the CROSS, ANCHOR, and HEART, each carrying a profound spiritual meaning:

The CROSS symbolizes faith and salvation, reminding the faithful of Christ’s sacrifice and Mary’s faithful presence at the foot of the Cross.

The ANCHOR represents hope and steadfast trust in God, reflecting Mary’s unwavering confidence in the Lord.

The HEART signifies love, charity, and compassion, echoing the loving heart of Mary as Mother of the Church.

The artistic creation of each letter in "AVE MARIA" serves as a visible proclamation of honor and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Each letter symbolizes the community’s prayerful offering, unity, and joyful participation in this cherished Marian tradition.

By combining faith, symbolism, and creativity, the contest becomes not only an artistic activity but also a means of catechesis and evangelization, especially for the youth and families participating in Flores de Mayo. It encourages everyone to reflect on the virtues of Mary and to express devotion through meaningful works of art.

Furthermore, this initiative serves as an important step toward the broader celebration of Flores de Mayo devotion in every barangay next year. Through active participation and collaboration, the organizers hope to inspire stronger Marian devotion, preserve Filipino Catholic traditions, and foster unity among communities. May this celebration of “Ave Maria” become a continuing reminder that through Mary, we are led closer to Christ in faith, hope, and love.

AVE MARIA!

“How do we treat our brothers and sisters who are poor? Sa atong katilingban, kinsa ang atong pirming gi-criticize? Is there love in every criticism that is not constructive but sometimes destructive? Kinsa man tong mga tawhana nga atong gi-ostracize, gidaog-daog, or gitikasan? Labi na kung anaa diha sa sitwasyon nga agalon ug sulogoon.

Usahay, naay mga agalon nga abusado; abusaran nila ang ilang mga sulogoon. Usahay, pakaulawan nato ang mga tawo nga, sa atong pagkita ug pag-ila, ubos kaayo nato. But we are being reminded in today’s theme that the heart of the Lord is always with the poor and the marginalized.

That’s why the Church has this teaching: the preferential option for the poor. Pirmi ang pobre ang Iyang gikita. Pirmi ang pobre ang Iyang gihigugma, kay mao man kini ang gihigugma sa atong Ginoong Hesukristo.”

In line with yesterday’s theme, “Preferential Love for the Poor and Marginalized,” may we be reminded to see Christ in the poor, the neglected, and the oppressed, and to become instruments of compassion, justice, and genuine love for those most in need.

As we celebrate the 131st Town Fiesta of San Isidro Labrador Parish with the theme, “Omnia Bene Facit: From Listening Hearts to a Harvest of Mission in a Synodal Journey of Grace,” may we continue to listen with open hearts and respond generously to God’s call.
