VALUES FOCUS OF THE WEEK
"Availability"
In our online chat applications, we have the option to appear online, busy, or offline. It is our choice whether we want others to see us as available or unavailable. Sometimes, we choose these settings to avoid being disturbed, focus on our tasks, or simply because we do not wish to communicate with someone at that moment.
However, in our profession, we do not have the luxury of such an option. Once the call of duty comes, we must make ourselves available. As the saying goes, "When duty calls, we answer." Regardless of the circumstances, we are expected to respond, serve, and fulfill our responsibilities with dedication and commitment.
We should avoid making excuses or finding countless reasons to escape the tasks entrusted to us. Yes, we are only human beings, not robots. We need rest, we experience limitations, and we are neither heroes nor immortals. However, being available when needed is not simply a mandatory requirement—it is a reflection of our sense of accountability, professionalism, and commitment to do what we are supposed to do.
As one quote reminds us, "Your ability will not help if you do not give your availability." No matter how talented, skilled, or capable we are, our abilities can only make a difference when we are willing to show up, step forward, and answer the call of duty.
At the end of the day, Our willingness to be available when needed and to fulfill our responsibilities speaks not only of our competence but also of our character.
