COMPASSIONATE ADVOCACY, RESPECT AND EMPOWERMENT OF DIFFERENTLY ABLE PERSONS (CARE-DAP)
Description
AKO ANG SAKLAY INC., is a NON Profit Organization whose purposes are:
1. And Care of Persons Who Use Drugs.
2. To be advocates and promoters of the rights and dignity of every Differently Able Persons.
3. To empower Differently Able Persons to become active participants in our society.
4. To help and provide the PWUDs and Differently Able Persons receive/acheive:
a. Education
c. Livelihood projects, training, and formation; and
d. Support, such as wheelchair, prosthetic, crutches, and other medical tools that can help them be independent and empowered.
5. To build and maintain a Center for Healing where we can offer sanctuary, care and hospitality to PWUDs and Differently Able Persons who are abandoned and marginalized.
6. To encourage and assist the PWUDs and Differently Able Persons to discover and develop their talents, skills and capacity in
a. Music
b. Arts
c. Cultures
d. Sports
e. Entrepreneurship/Business
f. Politics and Public Service
7. To partner with other Non-Governmental Organizations and Government Agencies in making sure that Local Government Units and the Private Sectors respond to the needs of the Differently Able Persons in accordance with and in full implementation of the Magna Carta of PWDs. The same advocacy will be done for PWUDs. We will encourage and promote the establishments of CBDRPs in different LGUs in Nueva Ecija and other areas in need of help.
8. To help create and promote ordinances and legislation that will protect and enhance the life, condition and rights of Differently Able Persons.
9. To organize, support and sustain a Team of Volunteers for the Pastoral/Spiritual Care of the Sick Program at SAKLAY CENTER.
10. To Organize and promote events and celebrations in support and recognition of Differently Able Persons in our communities, such as the Disability Week, Disability Month, or National/international Disability Awareness.
11. To provide assistance and support to persons who are in need even if they are not considered as Differently Able Persons.
12. To establish and maintain library, reading rooms, meeting or conference rooms, and social rooms for the use of its members and beneficiaries.
13. To promote social interaction among its members and beneficiaries.
14. To do any and all things which shall be lawful and appropriate in furtherance of any purposes herein-above expressed. General Information
It is called AKO ANG SAKLAY (I AM THE CRUTCHES) to empower all of us to care for the Differently Able Persons in our communities. It is not only the wheelchairs or the crutches. It is us who will hold and support our brothers and sisters who are Differently Able Persons. We are Pastoral Care Volunteers who have made a commitment to care for the Sick. We visit the sick on a daily basis. We spend time listening to them, praying with them, singing and dancing and responding to their needs. We promote and do advocacy for the Differently Abled persons also. We collaborate with other communities and orgs for the needs of our patients. We also do outreach to people affected by natural calamities by doing de briefing and relief operation as well as medical missions in poor communities.
