KEEPING THE UNITY IN THE CHURCH
One of the marks of the true Church of God, or the Body of Christ, is Unity. That is why the church must maintain it. Divisions, quarreling, rivalries, and discord should not be evident within the church's members. Apostle Paul said that we should "walk worthy of our calling" (Ephesians 4:1), therefore, we should be "eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace" (Ephesians 4:3). Here are some truths about why we should keep or maintain unity in the church.
1. BECAUSE KEEPING THE CHURCH'S UNITY PROVES THAT WE ARE GOD'S WORSHIPPERS. We have one God with three distinct Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are united, therefore, the church must be united also. To worship God is to acknowledge who He is. Therefore, if we are united, we worship Him because our God is a Triune God.
2. BECAUSE KEEPING THE CHURCH'S UNITY PROVES THAT WE ARE TRUE CHILDREN OF GOD. The children of God desire the will of the Father in heaven. Satan's children desire to do the will of their father, and Satan's desire is to kill, steal, and DESTROY (John 8:44). Kaya kapag may nanggugulo sa church at nagiging rason ng division, ang unang tanong jan ay kanino ba anak yan? The Church is the congregation of the children of God, therefore, we should be united.
3. BECAUSE KEEPING THE CHURCH'S UNITY PROVES THAT WE ARE MATURING FOLLOWERS OF JESUS CHRIST. Mature Christians follow God's word because it is essential for developing our walk with Christ. Apostle Paul appealed to the Corinthian believers by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of them should agree, and that there be no divisions among them, being united with the same mind and judgment (1 Corinthians 1:10). Now, Paul addressed the Corinthian believers as infants in Christ and not spiritual people, because of their jealousy and strife with one another (1 Corinthians 3:1-4). Nakakalungkot lang marinig at makita na ang isang iglesia ay nagkakanya-kanya, nagaaway-away, at grupo-grupo sa loob.
THEREFORE, TO KEEP THE UNITY OF THE CHURCH, WE MUST BE:
"HUMBLE, GENTLE, PATIENT, AND BEARING ONE ANOTHER IN LOVE, DO NOTHING FROM SELFISH AMBITION, AND COUNT OTHER MORE SIGNIFICANT THAN YOURSELF" (Ephesians 4:2-3; Philippians 2:3).
