Title: "The Strategic Steward"
Text: Luke 16:1-13
5 years from now... What kind of life do you have?

I. The squandered trust vv1,2

II. The shrewd tactics vv.3-7
The controversial statement. v8
The master commended the unjust steward...
Luke 16:8 NIV
[8] “The master commended the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly. For the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the people of the light
The wise decision for his future.

The unrighteous mammon
Culturally, they agreed for the discounted interests only of the manager's not the owner's interest. Which the manager commended him to be wise, securing his future... that they may welcome him in their house for him to stay.
- mindset: working, saving for the future.

III. The spiritual testing vv.9-18

Application of the parable:
Believers must have the mind for the future, for eternity...to use the wealth of the world in preparation for eternity so that the unbeliever to come to know the Lord, for them to welcome you in eternity.

- Faithfulness in small things (material) to serve the Lord.
- True wealth (not of this world)
- Being good stewards..
What we have here is for training ground...talent, health, strength, wealth.

The unbeliever is more wiser for they think helping others will bring them to heaven... How about the believers? Are we investing for our future? We do not own what we have...

How we serve today with what we have, will determine our position in the future (eternity)...
By Serving Jesus Today‼️
How close we are to Jesus, it will be easier for us to go to Him ..

"When you are close to Him, you will see Him big."
Be a wise steward, invest for eternity‼️
Serve today,‼️

SAVED TO SERVE
Mark 1:29-34
Jesus Himself came not only to save us from sin but to serve!

I.The presence and personal pity of Jesus v.29
- not only in the synagouge but also in the house.Simon's mither in law's Immediate response is to serve

II.The public power of Jesus v32-34a Healing spiritual (SIN) and physical sickness (brought by demons). Even He is tired He serve.

III. The purposeful prohibition of Jesus.v 34b
He would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew Him.
A. He don't want unworthy witness.
B. He don't want to have misconception of the Messiah.
At that time He came to save not yet as a "military conquerror" (will happen at His second coming) which is their mindset.
C. He has His own timeline

Jesus came not to be served but to serve!

Difference between Abiding and Discipleship
- Abiding is the source of enablement
- Discipleship is the fruit or outward expression.
Title:
"The Costly Call to Discipleship"
Truth A - Salvation (unconditional) first for the Jews yet they rejected so the invitation was offered to the Gentiles. (Luke 14:15-24)
Truth B - Discipleship (conditional)
3 Behavioral Requirements:
I. Unrivaled Commitment v.26
Yet not all who are following Jesus is a believer. We must love Jesus above anyone else. He is our priority! Even 'hate" oneself, biological relationships, business, religious identity.
II. Unceasing Cross-bearing v.27
Cross-bearing (sacrifice) is a personal choice or voluntary cross-living and not the consequence of our decision.
III. Unreserved Cost v 33
We are only stewards of our resources even our own lives to be used for His glory.
Material possessions can be idols.

3. The tasteless salt. v.34
Following Jesus must be well understood.
Following Jesus is not easy but its all worth it!

Message Notes:

Some Christians still tend to observe old beliefs and practices, traditions, good works..
Whereas LOVE for Christ must be the mindset for everything we do. Our salvation does not give freedom or license to sin.

I. The command to obey v.16
"...walk by the Spirit.." so as not to gratify the flesh

II. The conflict to face. vv17-18
- the flesh vs the Spirit
(the old nature vs. the new nature)

III The contrast to check. vv.19-25
A. The works of the flesh
1. Sensual sins
2. Religious sins
(Idolatry anything we do that replace God or just to show off devotion to God)
B. The Fruit of the Spirit
The foundatio/root is LOVE and everything follows...joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness...
C Conquest to be done.vv.24-26
"Crucified the flesh, keep in step wit the Spirit."

How can we abide ...where is the Lord with His glorified physical body (since He ascended to heaven)
- He is the Head of the universal church

- He is preparing our mansion

- He is our High Priest, Advocate (defense atty.)

II. The Holy Spirit
Jn14:16-18
- Another Comforter residing in us, indwelling in us
- Alongside help, guide

III. Abide and Walk in the Power of the Holy Spirit.

"Cold Love"
"You have forsaken your first love."
-Nothing is hidden from God. Divine Security and Continual Presence
If God's presence is not in the midst..
1. Loss of fervor vv2-4
-fading of passionate enthusiasm feeling indifferent, detached or burn-out
-When our love for Christ is forsaken, our care for others is forgotten.

2. Spiritual complacency v5
-self-satisfaction w/o genuine passion
- Repent- change direction
- Remember your first love the day when you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior‼️

3. Passiveness v.6
- "Known for what they hate not for what they love"
- loose living (6 days serving the world 1 day serving the Lord)
Overcome everything that makes our love for Christ grow cold.
