Heartfelt gratitude to Vox Legio Pauci and Novus Canticus for lifting our hearts in worship during today’s Sunday Service. Through every harmony, we offer our longings to the Lord and pray that our lives reflect His love each day.

“𝙊 𝘿𝙞𝙮𝙤𝙨, 𝙄𝙠𝙖𝙬 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙡𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙥, 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙗 𝙠𝙤’𝙮 𝙄𝙠𝙖𝙬 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙙…” 🎶

In our gospel today, Jesus reveals the true cost of discipleship: "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me." Human nature inclines us toward comfort and security, much like Peter when he resisted Christ’s path toward suffering. Yet, Jesus reminds us that the true fulfillment of our lives is found not in self-preservation, but in total surrender to Him.

When we take up our daily cross, we are not simply accepting hardship for its own sake, we are pursuing the One our soul longs for. Carrying the cross is an act of deep desire (paghahangad) for God, trusting that under the shadow of His wings ("sa lilim ng Iyong mga pakpak"), we find the strength, joy, and peace needed to offer our entire lives to Him. Taking communion becomes our daily commitment to let go of self and rest fully in His love.

Yesterday evening, August 27, Vox Legio Pauci had the quiet honor of offering our voices in song during the Wake Mass for the late Tito Alberto the father of Kuya Jason, an alumnus member of Vox Legio Pauci.

In the homily, Father reminded us of a profound truth about love: so often, human affection is transactional. We give expecting to receive, or we measure what comes in return. But true love, the kind reflected in Christ’s ultimate sacrifice and honored in the memory of Tito Alberto, is entirely unconditional. It gives freely without keeping score.

Singing through our hymns that became a prayer of gratitude for a life that exemplified that selfless spirit. Rest in eternal peace, Tito. May your soul find warmth in the absolute, unconditional embrace of our Creator. 🕯️

A little sneak peek from our post-service rehearsal yesterday! We’re working on a new entrance song for next week, "𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗚𝗼𝗱!", and the energy in the room was already so special.

Can't wait to lead everyone in worship with this one next Sunday. Turn the sound on and get a quick preview of what's coming! 🎶✨

"𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙙𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙖𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄 𝙖𝙢?"✨

Serving isn't just about offering our voices to fill the sanctuary; it’s about answering who Christ is in our personal lives. When we sing, we don't just speak about Him; we speak to Him. Yesterday’s service was a gentle reminder that before we can lead others in worship, our own souls must rest in His identity as our Savior, Anchor, and Friend.

In yesterday’s Gospel, Jesus turns to His disciples with a question that shifts from collective knowledge to personal intimacy. He first asks what others say about Him, but then He narrows it down to the core question: "But who do you say that I am?"

It is easy to describe Jesus using secondhand titles a great teacher, a miracle worker, a historic figure, or simply a God we worship out of routine. But Jesus wasn't interested in a consensus poll; He was looking for personal relationship. When Peter answered, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God," it wasn't a rehearsed line, but an anchor of core conviction.

For members of a choir or ministry, this question carries a specific weight.

𝘐𝘵 𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘴 𝘶𝘴 𝘪𝘧 𝘸𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘵 𝘰𝘳 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦.

𝘐𝘵 𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘴 𝘪𝘧 𝘑𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢 𝘧𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵, 𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘓𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘸𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳.

𝘐𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘶𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭, 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘏𝘪𝘮, 𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘢 𝘴𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘭𝘦.

We cannot truly know who we are until we first answer who Jesus is to us. When He is our Savior, we become His instruments. When He is our peace, our service becomes an overflow of gratitude rather than an exhausting obligation.

𝗙𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗺: 𝗔 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴

In last Sunday’s Gospel, we encountered the persistent, fierce love of the Canaanite woman. Facing a desperate situation and silent skies, she refused to lose hope. She cried out to the Lord with relentless faith, and through her perseverance, healing was granted to her child.

Today, as floodwaters submerge communities and bring hardship to so many of our brothers and sisters, our hearts cry out with that same persistent faith. The rising waters may bring fear, uncertainty, and loss, but God’s word reminds us that we are never abandoned.

During Communion, as the voices of Vox Legio Pauci joined together in Fr. Manoling Francisco’s “Huwag Kang Mangamba,” we were gently reminded of God’s abiding promise: “𝘏𝘶𝘸𝘢𝘨 𝘬𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘢, '𝘥𝘪 𝘬𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘨-𝘪𝘪𝘴𝘢... 𝘒𝘪𝘵𝘢’𝘺 𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘨 𝘴𝘢 '𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘯. 𝘐𝘬𝘢𝘸 𝘢𝘺 𝘈𝘬𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘱𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘮𝘢𝘯.”

In the middle of the storm, Christ holds us fast. Just as He heard the cry of the Canaanite woman, He hears our prayers for recovery, protection, and restoration today.

"𝙔𝙤𝙝𝙤𝙤! 𝙎𝙖 𝙥𝙞𝙮𝙚𝙨𝙖 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙞𝙣." ~~~~~✨😝

Sunday service may have ended, but the praise didn't stop. Here’s a quick snippet from our post-service rehearsal as Vox Legio Pauci joined forces with Novus Canticus!

Even as the rain poured down, rehearsing "Be Not Afraid" hit close to home: "𝘽𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙛𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙙, 𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪, 𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙨𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪, 𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪."

As choir members, these words are a gentle reminder of our true purpose. Serving in the music ministry isn't just about hitting the right notes, it's answering a divine calling. He made us, saved us, and called us to offer our voices back to Him, no matter the weather or circumstance.

Hope this snippet brings a little warmth to your rainy Sunday! 🌧️✨

𝐁𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐲 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞! 🙏

Today, as Vox Legio Pauci gathered for Sunday service on this 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time, our hearts were deeply reminded of where our true strength comes from.

In a world that constantly leaves us hungry for peace, truth, and genuine connection, Jesus offers Himself as our ultimate nourishment. He doesn't just give us answers. He gives us Himself in the Eucharist to sustain us through every trial, doubt, and weary moment.

As a small legion with a unified voice, we are reminded that we don't walk this journey on our own strength. Fed by the Bread of Life, we are called to go out into the world and be vectors of His love, hope, and grace to everyone we meet this week. 💙🌾

Wishing you all a blessed week ahead!
