O God, who in your providence
raised up Pope Saint Pius the Fifth in your Church
that the faith might be safeguarded
and more fitting worship be offered to you,

Pope Saint Pius V was a Dominican reformer who faithfully carried out the decrees of the Council of Trent. He standardized the Roman Missal and Breviary, strengthened Church discipline, and promoted true worship. Deeply devoted to the Rosary, he attributed the Christian victory at Lepanto to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

† Belated Feast day of Saint Peter Chanel

𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀

Saint Peter Chanel was a French missionary priest and the first martyr of Oceania. Sent to Futuna Island, he preached the Gospel with patience and charity, converting many despite opposition. His growing influence led to his martyrdom in 1841. Through his sacrifice, the island later embraced Christianity, bearing fruit from his faithful witness.

𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀

SAINT LOUIS GRIGNION de MONTFORT during his relatively short life as a missioner, especially among the poor, had to overcome considerable setbacks and opposition. He founded the Daughters of Wisdom and before his death established a society of priests, the Company of Mary, to carry on his work. His book on True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin has been widely translated into many languages.

Saint Louis-Marie de Montfort was a French priest known for his deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. He taught total consecration to Jesus through Mary, especially in his work True Devotion to Mary. His spirituality greatly influenced the Legion of Mary, making him one of its patrons and a model of Marian dedication and missionary zeal.
