We bid farewell to one of our well-loved Claretian Priest in our community, Fr. Bernardo Toribio Blanco, CMF, with profound gratitude in our hearts. We were truly blessed to have had the chance to visit and interact with him before the pandemic. π
We vividly remember how he shared his harrowing experience in Mindanao, where he was abducted by terrorists. Despite the ordeal, his unwavering Faith only grew stronger, a testament to his remarkable resilience and dedication to his calling. During our visit, he warmly welcomed us, showed us around the convent, and treated us to a delightful merienda.
From Fr. Blanco, we gleaned two essential lessons that we should strive to integrate into our main tasks as members of the vocation ministry:
- Pray more often for priests and religious individuals: They devote their lives to serving others and need our prayers and support.
- Engage with them more frequently: Our interactions can provide them with much-needed encouragement and strength.
Fr. Blanco's simple yet profound request was for us to pray for them, as they continually pray for us. It's a reminder that they are human too, susceptible to sins and in need of our support.
Fr. Blanco was an exemplary example of vocations, and his life inspires us to deepen our commitment to our faith and our community.
Let us all unite in prayer for the repose of his soul. May his legacy of faith, courage, and kindness continue to inspire us all. π
