Today, the 𝗗𝗶𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗼𝘀 joyfully celebrates the 𝟲𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟭𝟴𝘁𝗵 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 of our beloved shepherd, 𝙈𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙍𝙚𝙫. 𝙂𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙤 𝘼. 𝘼𝙡𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙯𝙖, 𝘿.𝘿.

Your life of humble service, steadfast faith, and courageous leadership continues to inspire us to become faithful witnesses of Christ’s love. Through your episcopal ministry, you have guided our local Church with wisdom, compassion, and a profound commitment to justice, peace, and the care of our common home.

As you celebrate these meaningful milestones, the 𝗗𝗶𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗼𝘀 gives thanks to God for the precious gift of your life and vocation. 𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐘 𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒𝐓’𝐒 𝐃𝐀𝐘!

Today, as we celebrate the 𝟭𝟴𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲, the Church also prepares for the 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁. 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗩𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝘆, the 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘯 𝘚𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘴, celebrated every 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟰. The Sunday closest to his feast is observed as St. John Mary Vianney Sunday, inviting the faithful to offer special prayers for all priests and for priestly vocations.

In keeping with the Church’s liturgical norms, Sundays in Ordinary Time take precedence over the Feasts and Memorials of Saints. Thus, today’s Eucharistic celebration follows the liturgy of the 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time, while we spiritually honor St. John Mary Vianney and his enduring witness of priestly holiness.

As one diocesan family, let us thank God for the gift of our bishops and priests, who faithfully shepherd God’s people through the proclamation of the Gospel, the celebration of the Sacraments, and their selfless pastoral service.

May St. John Mary Vianney intercede for all priests, that they may continue to serve with humble hearts, steadfast faith, and joyful fidelity to Christ the Good Shepherd.
