PREX Annunciation Parish chapter

PREX Annunciation Parish chapter PREX is a life and a great experience that will happen in your whole catholic life..

Many active members of the church are graduates of PREX especially during the nascent stage of OLAP. The organization provides the parishioners a conversion experience through its weekend seminars. Different talks and sharings are given to facilitate the process of healing and reconciliation within the Catholic faith family. And like other parish organizations, the PREX family aims to unify the pa

rish. PREX, short for Parish Renewal Experience, is a renewal seminar for Catholics, a rediscovery experience that will help us see the true meaning of our faith and help us discover the joy of being a Catholic. PREX is not an organization, nor a new movement, nor a new society; neither does it dismantle organizations. It is all about the parish renewing itself – a step to the awareness that the parish is not a “we” and “they” arrangement, but a family living with and loving one another. Objectives:

PREX attempts:

To provide the direction and approaches for strengthening and deepening the life of the parish
To make parishioners experience the joy and feel the dignity as members of the Body of Christ
To begin a commitment to belong to one another as Church
To develop down-to-earth spirituality in response to the search for meaningful ways to experience God's presence in our lives
To call people to evangelization – to bring the teachings of Vatican II to the grass roots; to prepare our people for bringing the Good News into all levels of humanity and through its influence, transforms humanity from within and make it new. To unify the parish
In line with these objectives, this weekend seminar will focus on the rediscovery of:

Our relationship with those who gave us the faith
The reasons why we wish to keep the faith
The direction we need to take to pass on the faith to others.

As we commemorate Good Friday, let us take a moment to reflect on the profound sacrifice made by Jesus Christ in order to free humanity from the burden of sin. It is a time to pause and remember the selfless love and unwavering devotion that he demonstrated in his life and in his ultimate sacrifice. As we honor this sacred day, let us also strive to embody the principles of compassion, forgiveness, and humility in our own lives, and to reflect upon the importance of these values in our interactions with others.

MGA PAGBASA SA MISA PARA SA SETYEMBRE 8, 2022 (Kapistahan ng Pagsilang ng Mahal na Birheng Maria)
(Taon K, Puti)

UNANG PAGBASA (MIKAS 5, 1-4A)

At tatawagin itong Emmanuel.”

LITURGICAL NOTE: The Easter Vigil is the mother of all vigils, the greatest celebration in the Church. It celebrates the passing over of Christ from death to life. The celebration is divided into four parts: (1) Lucernarium, (2) Liturgy of the Word, (3) The Baptismal Liturgy, and (4) Liturgy of the Eucharist. Easter Vigil begins with a dramatic transition from darkness to light wherein Christ who is laid in the tomb now brings about the light of his resurrection. Thus the long Readings speak about God's wonderful plan of salvation from the time of creation until the actual event of Christ's resurrection. And because of Jesus risen from the dead, we once again remember the grace of Baptism wherein we have risen with him and become God's children; thus we continue to become faithful to our baptismal promises. And all these things about his Resurrection call us to celebrate the paschal feast through the participation in the altar of his Body and Blood.

Important Note: Due to COVID-19, the Lucenarium may be simplified depending on what your Diocese decrees. Meaning to say, this will affect the preparation and blessing of the fire, as well as the preparation and lighting of the Paschal Candle.

INTRODUCTION BY THE PRESIDER
Dear brethren (brothers and sisters), on this most sacred night, in which our Lord Jesus Christ passed over from death to life, the Church calls upon her sons and daughters, scattered throughout the world, to come together to watch and pray. If we keep the memorial of the Lord's paschal solemnity in this way, listening to his word and celebrating his mysteries, then we shall have the sure hope of sharing his triumph over death and living with him in God. Today is the 1st day of the Novena Prayer to . Let us pray.

Day 1 (September 25)

St. Francis, friend of the lowly and poor, Open my eyes to see God in all my brothers and sisters. Pray for me St. Francis, that I, too, might experience a conversion on this day, and in the days to come. Amen.

St. Francis of Assisi, pray for us!

Conversion: St. Francis, a wealthy young man, scorned beggars until he realized they, too, were God’s children. He vowed never again to refuse anyone who asked him something in God’s name.

God calls you, as he did St. Francis, to undergo a “conversion” experience. Many times in our lives we see the face of God in others, yet do not act. When we rise above our natural feelings and extend a small kindness, whether a helping hand, a smile, or a phone call, we are the ones who are blessed.

Action: Today, find your conversion opportunity, and then be kind to someone who needs you.

𝐎𝐁𝐈𝐓𝐔𝐀𝐑𝐘 𝐌𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐀𝐆𝐄:

We may know that death is a part of life, yet it’s never easy to lose someone. I’m so very sorry for the loss of Tatay Arcadio, whom I know was a bright spot in your life. I would love to help you keep his/her memory alive by hearing your stories of the times you shared. I’m here to listen to your words, your tears, and to hold your hand through it all. My deepest Condolences to the bereaved family of Ate Gemma Corollo.

ST TERESA OF CALCUTTA | September 5

Mother Teresa of Calcutta, the tiny woman recognized throughout the world for her work among the poorest of the poor, was beatified October 19, 2003. Among those present were hundreds of Missionaries of Charity, the order she founded in 1950, as a diocesan religious community. Today the congregation also includes contemplative sisters and brothers and an order of priests.

Born to Albanian parents in what is now Skopje, Macedonia, Gonxha (Agnes) Bojaxhiu was the youngest of the three children who survived. For a time, the family lived comfortably, and her father’s construction business thrived. But life changed overnight following his unexpected death.

During her years in public school, Agnes participated in a Catholic sodality and showed a strong interest in the foreign missions. At age 18, she entered the Loreto Sisters of Dublin. It was 1928 when she said goodbye to her mother for the final time and made her way to a new land and a new life. The following year she was sent to the Loreto novitiate in Darjeeling, India. There she chose the name Teresa and prepared for a life of service. She was assigned to a high school for girls in Calcutta, where she taught history and geography to the daughters of the wealthy. But she could not escape the realities around her—the poverty, the suffering, the overwhelming numbers of destitute people.

In 1946, while riding a train to Darjeeling to make a retreat, Sister Teresa heard what she later explained as “a call within a call. The message was clear. I was to leave the convent and help the poor while living among them.” She also heard a call to give up her life with the Sisters of Loreto and instead, to “follow Christ into the slums to serve him among the poorest of the poor.”

After receiving permission to leave Loreto, establish a new religious community, and undertake her new work, Sister Teresa took a nursing course for several months. She returned to Calcutta, where she lived in the slums and opened a school for poor children. Dressed in a white sari and sandals–the ordinary dress of an Indian woman–she soon began getting to know her neighbors—especially the poor and sick—and getting to know their needs through visits.

The work was exhausting, but she was not alone for long. Volunteers who came to join her in the work, some of them former students, became the core of the Missionaries of Charity. Others helped by donating food, clothing, supplies, and the use of buildings. In 1952, the city of Calcutta gave Mother Teresa a former hostel, which became a home for the dying and the destitute. As the order expanded, services were also offered to orphans, abandoned children, alcoholics, the aging, and street people.

For the next four decades, Mother Teresa worked tirelessly on behalf of the poor. Her love knew no bounds. Nor did her energy, as she crisscrossed the globe pleading for support and inviting others to see the face of Jesus in the poorest of the poor. In 1979, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. On September 5, 1997, God called her home. Blessed Teresa was canonized by Pope Francis on September 4, 2016.

Reflection
Mother Teresa’s beatification, just over six years after her death, was part of an expedited process put into effect by Pope John Paul II. Like so many others around the world, he found her love for the Eucharist, for prayer, and for the poor a model for all to emulate.
