Optional Memorial of Saint Gregory VII, Pope
Optional Memorial of Saint Mary Magdalene de' Pazzi, Virgin
Monday in the Octave of Pentecost
Throughout His stay in this world, especially prior to the start of His ministry, the Blessed Mother stayed with our Lord Jesus Christ to accompany Him and prepare Him for what lies ahead. And along His Passion up to His death, she was with our Lord Jesus to let her know that she is always there for Him. And while He was hanging on the cross, she was given to us as our Mother, to accompany us along our way as we pursue God's Kingdom to come at the end of our mortal lives. Our Blessed Mother is indeed our mother, who cares for us so much, especially for our salvation, because our Lord Jesus entrusted us to her care, for her to concern herself about in the same way that she took care of Him before. Hence, we should never feel abandoned or neglected, because we have a mother who is always waiting for us to call upon her for our needs. She will certainly bring our concerns to our Lord Jesus and advocate for us, just as our mothers in this world will do for us whenever we need something. As we reflect on the motherhood of the Blessed Virgin Mary, especially for us who are members of the Church, let us ask God for the grace that will make us always turn to her for our needs, especially whenever we feel we do not deserve to be going directly to God because of our unworthiness and sinfulness. May we never be deceived by the world into believing that our Blessed Mother has no role in the process of our salvation, for this is the lie that has started to emanate in today's modernized society.
