Today is the feast of St. Artemide Zatti.

St. Artemide Zatti was born on October 12, 1880 in Boretto, Italy, to a poor farming family. He emigrated to Argentina with his family at the age of 17, where he found work in a hotel and then in a brick factory. At the age of 20, he entered the Salesian Congregation of Don Bosco as a lay brother. He was assigned to the hospital in Viedma, Argentina, where he studied pharmacy and became a skilled nurse.

St. Zatti spent the next 40 years of his life serving the sick poor of Viedma. He was known for his tireless work ethic, his compassion for the suffering, and his unwavering faith. He was also a gifted healer, and many people attested to his miraculous cures.

In 1950, St. Zatti was diagnosed with cancer. He continued to work until the very end, dying on March 15, 1951. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2002 and canonized by Pope Francis in 2022.

St. Zatti is a model of Christian love and service to others. He is especially revered by healthcare workers and those who suffer from illness. He is also a patron saint of pharmacists.
