Buwan ng Wika Trivia 🇵🇭
Alam Mo Ba? 🤔

HAPPY SOLEMNITY OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY!

Today, August 15, we celebrate the glorious truth that the Blessed Virgin Mary was taken body and soul into heavenly glory at the end of her earthly life. Her Assumption is a beautiful reminder that God does not abandon those who faithfully surrender their lives to Him.

Mary’s journey—from her humble “yes” at the Annunciation to her glorious union with God in heaven—shows us the destiny God desires for all who remain faithful to Him. She is a sign of hope, a model of discipleship, and a loving Mother who continually leads us closer to Jesus.

May Mary, assumed into Heaven, intercede for us, strengthen our faith, and teach us to say “yes” to God even when His plans are difficult to understand.

Our Lady of the Assumption, pray for us!
Mary, Mother of God, pray for us!
Lead us closer to Jesus. 🙏💙🤍

The 4 Marian Dogmas

In the Light of the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary 💙🤍

The Catholic Church professes four Marian dogmas—truths concerning the Blessed Virgin Mary that are firmly taught by the Church and rooted in Divine Revelation, Sacred Scripture, and Sacred Tradition. These dogmas do not place Mary above Christ; rather, they point us more deeply toward who Jesus is and what God has accomplished through Him.

They reveal Mary's unique relationship with God and her role in the mystery of salvation. On the Solemnity of the Assumption, these four dogmas can be seen as a beautiful story of God's grace: Mary was prepared by grace, became the Mother of the Savior, remained wholly dedicated to God, and was finally received body and soul into heavenly glory.

1. ASSUMPTION OF MARY 🌹

The Assumption is especially celebrated today, August 15. It teaches that:

“The Immaculate Mother of God, the ever-virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.”

This dogma was solemnly defined by Pope Pius XII on November 1, 1950, in Munificentissimus Deus.

The Assumption did not begin in 1950. The definition formally confirmed a belief that had been deeply rooted in the Church's liturgy, prayer, theological reflection, and the faith of Christians for centuries.

Mary's Assumption is the culmination of her earthly journey. She who carried Christ in her womb, stood faithfully beneath His Cross, and remained united with Him is now glorified with Him in Heaven.

It also gives us hope. Mary's glorification points toward the destiny God promises to His faithful people: eternal life and the resurrection of the body.

The Assumption tells us that Heaven is not merely an idea—it is the destination for which God created us.

2. IMMACULATE CONCEPTION 🤍

The Immaculate Conception was solemnly defined by Pope Pius IX in Ineffabilis Deus on December 8, 1854.

It teaches that Mary, from the first moment of her conception, was preserved from original sin by a singular grace of God, through the merits of Jesus Christ.

Mary's holiness, therefore, was not something she achieved independently of God's grace. She was saved by Christ in a unique and extraordinary way.

The Immaculate Conception helps us understand why Mary was prepared for her unique mission as the Mother of the Savior. The woman who would give her complete “yes” to God was herself the recipient of a singular gift of grace.

And on the Solemnity of the Assumption, we see where that grace ultimately leads: the woman preserved from sin is now glorified body and soul in Heaven.

3. MARY'S DIVINE MOTHERHOOD 👑

Mary's Divine Motherhood was solemnly affirmed at the Council of Ephesus in 431, which proclaimed her as Theotokos, meaning “God-bearer” or “Mother of God.”

This does not mean that Mary existed before God or that she is the source of Jesus' divinity.

Rather, it protects the truth about Jesus Christ: Jesus is one divine Person, the eternal Son of God, who truly became man. Therefore, the woman who gave birth to Jesus according to His humanity is truly the Mother of God incarnate.

Mary's title, Mother of God, ultimately points us to the mystery of the Incarnation.

And on the Assumption, we celebrate the glory of the woman who once carried the Savior of the world in her womb and is now exalted in Heaven with Him.

The Mother of the Lord is also our spiritual mother, continually pointing us toward her Son: “Do whatever He tells you.”

4. PERPETUAL VIRGINITY 🕊️

The Church also professes Mary as Ever-Virgin—before, during, and after the birth of Jesus.

The doctrine emphasizes the miraculous conception and birth of Christ and Mary's unique and total dedication to her divine mission.

The Church teaches that Jesus was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, without human father, and that Mary's virginity remained intact in the birth of Christ. This teaching was reaffirmed in the ancient tradition of the Church, including the Lateran Synod of 649, and was reiterated by the Second Vatican Council.

Mary's perpetual virginity points beyond Mary's physical virginity to the mystery of Christ's Incarnation and her complete dedication to God's plan.

Her entire life was oriented toward God.
