Caritas Manila has made education priority in helping free people from poverty. Partnering with private and public schools, Caritas provides education for deserving children from the poorest of the poor. Those primarily qualified belong to families with monthly income per capital of Php 1,000 or less. Scholarships are offered in the vocational and college levels. YSLEP is Caritas Manila integrated
youth development program that develops the youth’s potential in terms of knowledge, skills and attitude and trains them to become leaders. YSLEP utilizes training and formation that emphasize not just academic excellence but leadership while cultivating moral integrity and social commitment to the poor. After graduation, youth servant leaders are expected to give back and share time, talent and treasure to Caritas through the pay-forward scheme. All successful alumni of the Caritas YSLEP program are encouraged to “adopt” at least one scholar.
