Description of the Coat of Arms of the Jocson College - Campus Youth Ministry
THE CROSS
Cross, is the principal symbol of Christian faith, as the cross represents Christ's victory over death. Recalling the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ and the redeeming benefits of his Passion and death.
THE CANDLES
Candles are symbols of the presence of Christ, the light of the world (Jn 8:12), and of Baptism by which we share in his light (Col 1:12), and are also signs of reverence and festivity.
THE FLEUR-DE-LIS
The symbol has been regarded as a sign of purity ever since antiquity. The Roman Catholic Church adopted the Fleur-de-lis symbol to represent the Virgin Mary.
THE CRESCENT MOON AND THE STAR
A favorite symbol of Mary under her title of the Immaculate Conception, as early as the fifteenth century. The representation is based on the passage "Who is she that comes forth as the morning rising, fair as the moon under her feet" (Apocalypse 12:1). This star is one of the most iconic in the representation of the Immaculate Conception. The moon, a symbol of chastity, allows the light of the sun to pass through it, just as the power of God passes through the Virgin without staining her, without hurting her. Also, Jocson College - Campus Youth Ministry is under the Immaculate Conception Parish - Balibago, Angeles City.
THE COLOR RED
Red, the hue reminiscent of fire and blood, stands as the emblem of love, charity, sacrifice, and martyrdom.
THE COLOR BLUE
The color blue holds significant associations that can be attributed to Mary: it mirrors the hue of the sky and heavens, symbolizing peace and serenity.
THE COLOR GREEN
-Royal green functions beyond a mere color for Jocson College; it encapsulates the institution's values, traditions, and aspirations, acting as a unifying symbol that mirrors its dedication to excellence, growth, and inclusivity in the field of education.
THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit, as the third person in the Trinity, embodies the love exchanged between the Father and the Son. This divine presence permeates our lives, bringing to light the innermost desires of our hearts. Often described as the paraclete and advocate, the Holy Spirit directs us toward goodness and truth within the divine realm. The gifts bestowed by the Spirit are wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. Furthermore, the Jocson College - Campus Youth Ministry and Immaculate Conception Parish fall under the jurisdiction of the Vicariate of the Holy Spirit.
THE TORCH
The depiction of a burning torch can be understood as a representation of enlightenment, encapsulating ideals like knowledge, wisdom, and the pursuit of truth. Light, synonymous with comprehension and insight, is seen as dispelling obscurity and ignorance, thus brightening the world through the attainment of knowledge.
THE COGWHEEL
The cogwheel symbolizes interconnectedness, collaboration, progress, complexity, efficiency, and problem-solving, all of which are essential elements in the field of education.
