FRIENDS OF BACOLOD CHAMBER SINGERS.

The LCCB Chorale and Chorus is currently holding rehearsals at the historic San Sebastian Cathedral in preparation for the upcoming Baccalaureate Mass of the College Department. The choir members are diligently refining their repertoire to ensure a solemn, prayerful, and spiritually uplifting musical offering for this meaningful academic celebration.

Under the direction and musical guidance of Prof. Alexander Magno Romero, the choir is carefully preparing sacred hymns that will inspire reverence and gratitude during the liturgical service. Prof. Romero personally selected and arranged the music to complement the sacred atmosphere of the occasion and to enhance the worship experience of the graduating students, faculty, parents, and guests.

The rehearsal reflects the choir’s commitment to musical excellence, discipline, and devotion in sacred music ministry. Through heartfelt singing and dedicated preparation, the LCCB Chorale and Chorus continues to uphold its mission of glorifying God through music while serving the academic and spiritual community with passion and faith.

“The LA CONSOLACION COLLEGE BACOLOD CHORALE and CHORUS SUMMER WORKSHOP”

The LCCB Chorale and Chorus, under the artistic leadership of Prof. Alexander Magno Romero, has embarked on an intensive Summer Workshop focused on refining the twin pillars of elite choral performance: technical vocal production and dynamic facial projection. Recognizing that a truly captivating choral performance is felt as much as it is heard, Professor Romero has structured the workshop to bridge the gap between technical precision and emotional communication. This dedicated training season serves as a transformative period for the ensemble, pushing the choristers to evolve from technically sound singers into deeply expressive storytellers.
At the core of the workshop's vocal curriculum is the pursuit of a unified, mature choral tone. Under Prof. Romero’s guidance, the singers are engaging in specialized technical drills designed to enhance breath support, stabilize vocal placement, and expand their overall dynamic range. By focusing on vowel uniformity and precise articulation, the choir is successfully minimizing individual vocal strain while maximizing the collective resonance of the ensemble. This rigorous focus on vocal pedagogy ensures that the LCCB Chorale can effortlessly navigate complex harmonies with greater stamina, clarity, and intonation.
Simultaneously, the workshop places a profound emphasis on facial projection—the vital visual link between the choir and the audience. Singers are being trained to utilize their facial muscles to actively reflect the emotional subtext of the repertoire, moving beyond static expressions to deliver a more engaging visual performance. Professor Romero emphasizes that a relaxed jaw, lifted cheekbones, and expressive eyes not only convey the narrative of the music but also physically open the vocal tract, directly improving the brightness and projection of the sound itself.
Integrating these two demanding disciplines requires a high level of coordination and muscle memory. The choristers are learning to internalize the text so thoroughly that their physical expressions become a natural, spontaneous extension of the vocal line rather than a forced afterthought. Through targeted performance simulations, the singers are discovering how a shift in emotional intent can instantly warm a vocal tone or sharpen a rhythmic attack, creating a seamless synthesis of sight and sound that commands the stage.
As the summer workshop progresses, the tangible growth of the LCCB Chorale and Chorus underscores the success of Professor Romero's holistic approach to choral excellence. The ensemble is not only achieving a higher standard of musical virtuosity but is also cultivating a magnetic stage presence that promises to elevate their future concert seasons. Armed with a more resilient vocal technique and a heightened capacity for visual expression, the LCCB Chorale is well-prepared to deliver deeply moving, world-class performances that will resonate profoundly with audiences.
