The JIL leadership mourns the passing of one of its pioneering pastors, Ptr. Eliseo “Jhun” Balquin, Jr.
A model pastor, Ptr. Jhun inspired and encouraged many—not just through his relentless preaching of the Word, but more so, through the example of his life: always ready for any assignment, even when the price is high… always willing to serve whenever and wherever, even without fanfare… and always passionate for the Lord and His ministry, even when challenges and illnesses tried to stop him.
Even as he did all those, Ptr. Jhun faithfully shepherded his family, never forgetting his duties as husband to Ptr. Carolina and as father to Haniel, Uela Kaira, and Jeuel. Theirs is a household of love and joy, a model family because Ptr. Jhun was a model family man.
Aside from being a pastor and family man, Ptr. Jhun was also gifted with many talents from the Lord. He was a singer, musician, and composer, penning several Christian songs that edified many. The most notable of his compositions are “Pastor Pacundo,” “Bilin ni Pastor,” and “Baby Christian.” These are more than just songs, but the overflowing cry of Ptr. Jhun’s heart.
To Ptr. Jhun Balquin, the epitome of Pastor Facundo, we say:
Salamat at may pastor na katulad mo
Nagtitiis, nagtityaga sa mga tao
At kahit walang sweldo
Pag-ibig n’ya sa Diyos ‘di nagbabago
Bihira ang makagagawa ng ginagawa mo
