MABUHAY DESERET FOUNDATION MEDICAL SCREENING

“Clear Vision is not just a gift; it's a responsibility to protect through conscious care".

On May 21, 2026, the Mabuhay Deseret Foundation (MDF) conducted a Free Eye Screening in Sumangga, Mogpog, Marinduque, held at the Mogpog Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The outreach program aimed to provide eye care services to underserved patients of the community with the help of Volunteer Licensed Optometrists: Dr. Rowena R. Montellano, Dr. Rosethel Zhaina R. Montellano, Dr. Gladys Joy M. Arevalo, and Dr. Gwynn Jason M. Arevalo. Couple missionaries Elder and Sister Bergquist, along with Elder and Sister Simper, as well as the youth and young single adult members, provided support and assistance during the event.

The activity was conducted in an organized and meaningful manner. As a gesture of gratitude, tokens of appreciation were given by the Marinduque District President, Pres. Noel Macdon together with one of his Counselor, Bro. Cresencio Marciano, District Clerk, Bro. Jinuell Buñag, and Mogpog Branch President, Pres. Emmanuel Mariquit, to the volunteer optometrists and Mabuhay Deseret Foundation members, particularly Jeremiah C. Gaer, Edgardo S. Mercado, and Jesselle A. Pulvera for their invaluable service and dedication.

On April 18 and 19, 2026, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Sta. Cruz Marinduque District attended their District Conference at the Mogpog Chapel in Sumangga, Mogpog, Marinduque. The first day focused on District Leadership Training to help leaders in magnifying their callings. The second day featured a general session to strengthen the members' faith in Jesus Christ.

The Prophet Joseph Smith said, “The salvation (of the dead) is necessary and essential to our salvation…"
“They without us cannot be made perfect neither can we without our dead be made perfect” (D&C 128:15)."
On April 2-4 2026, Youth from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in Sta. Cruz Marinduque District, and from (5) branches: Mogpog, Boac, Gasan, Torrijos and Sta. Cruz visited the Philippines Manila Temple.
Enthusiasm and excitement do this sacred experience filled the hearts of the youths. As part of their preparations, they gathered names of eligible deceased ancestors for these sacred ordinances. This did not just prepare them, it also deepened their connection with their family and their roots.
After gathering names, they then recorded and printed them using their family history account at familysearch.org a church website helping people discover their heritage and connect with family members.
They were able to performed the sacred ordinances for over 400 names including the names brought by the youth and ones provided by the temple.
Francis Rainier Acurin, a recent convert, shared his feelings about the sacred ordinance, highlighting the joy we feel when we help our families.
He said “Napaka sarap sa pakiramdam na natulungan ang mahal natin sa buhay na yumao na."
Nathaniel Vincent Aureo Acasio, one of the participants, also added his experience in the temple. Saying, “Sobrang saya at gaan sa pakiramdam na nandun ako sa loob ng temple… ito yung best experience ko kasi alam ko na marami akong natulungan sa pamamagitan ng pagsunod at paggawa sa gawain ng ating Ama sa Langit.”
The Temple visit was truly a defining spiritual moment. The hearts of the youth and leaders were filled with joy. Not only were they able to serve their deceased ancestors, but they were also blessed to gain a testimony of the truthfulness of these sacred ordinances. Each youth went home nurtured by the spirit and with priceless memories, a sure guide for them in their discipleship.

On March 21, 2026, a District Relief Society Activity was held in Gasan Chapel as part of the celebration of the 184th Anniversary of the Relief Society organization. The activity aims to play with joy, serve with heart, and empower women with hope. Sisters from all branches attended the said activity. They shared their recipe and expertise in cooking food that will help the members to become self reliant. They shouted their yell and performed Zumba Dances. They also played games that filled them with laughter and joy.

On February 14, 2026, a combined district activity for YSA, RS, and EQ was held at Mogpog Chapel in Sta. Cruz Marinduque District to strengthen unity, love, and fellowship among members through wholesome activities centered on Christlike love. The activity includes dances, harana, gift giving, and fun games.
