| The faithful gathered in solemn prayer for the 5:00 PM Mass this Ash Wednesday, presided over by Rev. Fr. Res Kenneth Arong. The celebration marked the beginning of the Lenten season, inviting everyone into a time of repentance, humility, and renewal.
In his homily, Fr. Ken emphasized the true meaning of the ashes we receive. He reminded the congregation, “Ang abo mopahinumdom kanato to be always humble for the Lord... Wa gyud kita'y katungod nga manghambog kon unsay naa nato karon kay ang tanan baya gikan sa Dios.” His message called the faithful to examine their hearts and recognize that everything we have is a gift from God.
The imposition of ashes took place before the General Intercession, solemnly recalling the words of Genesis 3:19: “For dust you are and to dust you shall return.” As ashes were placed on foreheads, the community was reminded of human frailty and the need for sincere conversion.
The Eucharistic celebration concluded with a renewed sense of purpose, as parishioners began their Lenten journey committed to prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.
