-A Student Friar with Vows had an “illicit affair” with one of their Community Cook.
-A Solemnly Professed Friar encountered a “beautiful” woman during his mission abroad. He gave up his vocation and live-in with that woman and now awaiting “dispensation” of his solemn vows from the Vatican.
-A Student Friar had requested to study abroad to have a doctorate in his field of expertise but was denied. He left the religious community without noticed and still with vows.
-A Religious Priest Friar promoting “Marian Apparitions” that had a “Negative Approvals” from the Vatican and more often confused devotees of their love and devotion to our Blessed Mother Mary if it is a kind of “excess” or a “defect” veneration..
As a former temporary professed religious friar, these are few real life stories that most Religious Community experience. Some were even worst and scandalous. However, now a days due to tremendous information online plus volumes of movies that portrayed priests, nuns and religious, these stories were not new to people in the street..
In our Forming Conscience Lessons, and although it takes a lifelong formation, our God and our Mother Church through the Holy Spirit offer us many sources to have a proper formation of conscience. More often it is not so much about “what” to do, but “why” a follower of Jesus, a Christian, a Religious, a simple lay.....act as they do…amidst the bombardment of fake and half-truth daily news, emergence of social media, popular actors and actresses way of life that become an “ideal life” of the young and fanatics, the advancement of technologies that somehow replaces the truth, word and deed of the inner voice of God – Conscience..
In our CCC #1776 - #1802 - gave us a “Right and Proper” Conscience disposition, so influential and so powerful that a person is obliged to act according to its dictates. .
The 4 Life Stories above, one will question not only the “state” of their conscience but more so their moral judgement, the “what” and the “why” they professed the 3 Evangelical Vows, even what kind of “faith” and “morals” they have had during their 8 to 10 years of Religious Formation or more....
Religious Professions even wearing the daily Religious Habit with some exorcistic sacramentals will not make a religious immune to temptations, harassment, entanglement of the flesh, test of faith, of obedience, of chastity, of poverty and worst “being crucified” by your own community for being too “bossy”, “orthodox” and “techy”..
I’d like to end this very very short reflection with a quote from a catholic magazine, “It would be impossible to live, feel, think and love like Jesus…without a keen sensitivity and “right”, “enlightened” and “well-formed” formation of conscience. ”.
Our Church Magisterial Tradition, 2nd Vatican II Documents, Gaudiem et Spes #16, Veritatis Splendor #60, Amoris Laetitia are there...as valuable guides for the continuous seeking of reasons behind the church teachings and of formation of conscience in conformity with our Christian faith, morals, virtues and conscience. .
Having one’s spiritual director is also for me an important way to guide one’s spiritual journey regardless of one’s state of life.....taga benta ka man lang nang balot...o tricycle driver nang grab....o simpling "dumaralos"/farmer.........and of course Personal Prayers.....Own Prayer Time....besides Community Prayers, Recreation and Religious Gatherings plus Catholic Religious and Inter-Religious Dialoque, Seminars, Retreats and Workshops to better the Psycho-Social-Human-Religious-Spiritual-Cultural aspects of being human, and religious "workers" in God's Vineyard...as we are called for....to be God's Instrument of His Peace, Goodness, Truth, Faith, Hope and Love......

On our Mother Mary, in Luke 1:28, " Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you.." coming from the Angel Gabriel....
Full of grace is translated from Greek as "kecharitomene"...a perfect passive participle...with its present tense "charitoo" - to fill or endow with grace...
This means that our Mother Mary was graced in the past....and can effect this in the present....
As of all dogmas, it is making the explicit...what is already implicit in our Holy Scripture and our Sacred Tradition..
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND;
The Dogma of Immaculate Conception was declared, pronounced and defined on December 8, 1854 by Pope Pius IX in "Dogma of Faith in the Apostolic Constitution, "Ineffabilis Deus". .
From then on some or mostly were also included in the opening prayer in our liturgical text during the Solemnity Celebration of the Immaculate Conception..
4 years after, on February 11, 1858, Our Lady, Our Mother Mary appeared in Lourdes, France to a 14 year old girl named Bernadette Soubirous and said her named, "I am the Immaculate Conception" with the following messages to the whole world;
***exaltation of the virtues of Christian poverty and humility, importance of prayer and personal conversion...penance...penance...and...the confirmation and exaltation of the Dogma.
***Added to that...is the praying of the Holy Rosary...
Our Mother Mary is doing her Role in the "Church" not only in heaven...but also here on earth...not always in our own time...but in God's Time....where He makes all things beautiful.....
DID OUR MOTHER MARY DIED OR ASSUMED TO HEAVEN FIRST?
This 4th Dogma of our Mother Mary have some aspects that are open for discussion among theologians and lay faithful as well. Our Church did not declare fully...
***whether Mary died...and then assumed to heaven...
***or assumed to heaven first...and die?
***or did our Mother Mary really die... and assumed..prior to the separation of body and soul...like all of the normal way of dying..of all human race?.
First and foremost let us differentiate "Ascension" of our Lord Jesus Christ and the "Assumption" of our Mother Mary.
The first is by His Own...as God's only Begotten Son, our Redeemer...and our only Mediator between God and Man, ....the latter..by the power and grace of God through the "Special Privilege" given to her...as to be, and the...Mother of His Son...ever virgin and immaculate....
Did our Mother Mary die? .
Majority of our Fathers of the Church, Theologians, Marian Scholars, Saints and even some Protestants,Evangelicals, Pentecostals, Baptists...believed that she died and experienced death. But this must be understood in conformity to her Son Jesus....
Hindi lang parang palabas lang, sige kunwari mamatay ako....at sa ikatlong araw...mabubuhay..
No...a big No..
Our Mother Mary is not God...
She is human like us...but...without sin..as we talked about on the doctrine and teaching of "preservation and preredemption"...
She died and experienced death...but by that "special love of God" predestined, preserved...she was taken up body and soul into heavenly glory... in heaven.
In the words of our Magisterium...this is a logical conclusion of Mary's vocation on earth and as a consequence of her Divine Motherhood.(Lumen Gentium 61).
And it is this "close association" and "deep relation" of Jesus and Mary that is the very foundation of this belief on the Assumption of our Mother Mary.
There are no explicit text in our Scriptures but some biblical themes can shed some understanding and light....
Enoch, without seeing death. (Hebrews 11:5)
Elijah, with his chariots of fire going to heaven. (2 Kings 2:11)
"Woman clothed with the sun".. in the Book of Sign of John. (Revelations 12:1ff).
These were Old Testament prophets and the "eschatological" icon of the Church...being mentioned.....how much more with our Mother Mary...where her son Jesus could...can...assume his only Mother in flesh and blood...into Gods abode...
The apocrypal citations in the Early Oral and Written 5th Century Poetry about Mary's passing from this life to the next, "Transitus Mariae" (Pseudo-Melito) mentioned...and expressed in details how our Mother Mary assumed to heaven.
It is not an official documents to support the 4th Marian Dogma but at least one can conclude the 5th Century faith filled devotion to our Mother Mary....to its existence to Middles Ages....until now....
In the year 1849 to 1950 petitions for the dogma arrived in Rome. The result were, 22 bishops out of 1181 were not in favored, 6 were in doubts and the rest...were in questions and abstained.....
In November 1, 1950 Pope Pius XII in his Encyclical, "Most Bountiful God, Munificentissimus Deus" formally declared, pronounced and defined the Dogma of the Assumption of Mary into Heaven body and soul. {CCC # 966; 974}.
These 4th Dogma reminds us that we are pilgrims on this earth, this world which points us to heaven as our permanent home with God, Jesus, with the Holy Spirit, Mama Mary, Joseph and all Angels and Saints.....
By virtue of our baptism and confirmation...we have a deep union with Jesus and became children of God...and witnesses of God's Love, Mercy and Grace...until the end of time...
.
FRANCISCAN INPUT:
The Marian Dogmas are all centered on and upon Jesus, "predestined" by God the Father to be incarnated...will take a human flesh..for redemption of humanity. .
This is a result of a pure and free act of love on the part of God...
Also, all of creations was modeled and fashioned according to God's Word...out of nothing..comes something...,"Let there be...and there is it..and it was very good." the power of God's Word...and the Word who will be fleshed..the Incarnation of the Word, in the person of Jesus...
What follows were the "bulk of wisdom" and one aspect of Franciscan Spirituality or at its best...that were taught to us..and lived to the very marrow of our "communal fraternal, franciscan conventual life..in my postulancy, novitiate year and in my professed life as franciscan friar...before...this is the main result of one aspect of Franciscan Spirituality or the "golden" treasure. .
That God the Father has this "twofold purposes" in the salvation of mankind...."redemption" and "all of creation" an entry in a "mysterious ways" into a loving relationship with God as Trinity of Persons".
The beauty and glory of Creation (its essence and unique completeness) is to...or to glorify God..
And all of these were fashioned and modeled in the incarnation of His Son, in the person of Jesus....
St Francis penned and prayed in his canticle... "Brother Sun, Sister Moon, Sister Mother Earth...Sister Death...", the "exaltation" of the wondrous "works" of God's Creation...fashioned, modeled in Jesus, the Incarnate Word, our Savior, our Redeemer, our "Big" Brother....
Hope and pray that in our small ways...we may also be "a mother", an "ever-virgin", "immaculate" and an "assumption" and a "resurrection".... to our love ones and those we encounter everyday...in our dialoque, in our action, in our witnessing...and in our very life...for Gods greater glory........

💎Say Debosyon nen "Pope Francis" tan say "favorite" icon to na Inan Maria - the "Salus Populi Romani" (Protectress/Health/Welfare of the Roman People)....
Pope Francis always visits, prays and gives flowers to this "Icon" of our Blessed Mother before and after...every apostolic journey outside Rome..
Various Traditions said that this Icon was painted by the Evangelist St. Luke during one of her "meetings" and "interviews" with our Blessed Mother Mary while writing his "gospel"..
This "Orthodox Catholic Icon" came from Constantinople and was handover via boat in Tiber River. Processions, Prayers and Litanies were said on its way to Rome to cleanse and stop plaques and diseases..
Now it is erected in Basilica of St. Mary Major, the chief Marian Church in the City.
This "Icon" was used during our Pope's imparting the extraordinary "Urbi et Orbi Blessing" (to the city to the world) in an empty and rainy St. Peter's Square last March 2020. (Pandemic Year).
Although no audience in the square... it gave many recoveries of covid patient...counting around the world. .
Truly our Lord Jesus Christ and Mother Mary is not "silent" but continously working amidst this pandemic...how much more our God, who loves all mankind....
Also during the "benediction" one can see beside..is the Crucifix of San Marcellino which was used during the plaque of 1522 in Rome..
May our Blessed Mother Mary's maternal love...with the undying love of mankind...in the Name of Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God....may protect us, keep us safe and we pray for more recoveries and fast healing of their sickness....especially in our respective families, communities and of our countries...and around the globe...

Like Our Mother Mary, the 12 Apostles, the "Saints", and the "Living Saints" and "all the Catholic Influencers all around the world" who lived a "Godly Life"...St Pope John Paul II turned the world upside down....amidst Vatican II "aftermath", his assasination and his "health"...all for the loved of Jesus Christ Crucified...Christ, the Power of God and the Wisdom of God (1Cor 1:22:24)..and his "Madonna Mia" Devotion...our Marian Devotion...to our Mother Mary...our Mama Mary....
1985, he initiated the World Youth Day and its first celebration was in 1986 whom many youth were "on fire" to love dearly... Our Lord Jesus Christ...and love our Mother Church, and protect its "honor" to this "modern world"..
In 1995, World Youth Day in the Philippines had set a world record of 5 million plus attendees....Yun lang sayang...hindi ako nakaattend....
1987, June 7,(Feast of Pentecost) St John Paul proclaimed a Marian Year as a 2000 Birthday of Our Mother Mary...based on our "Catholic Oral Tradition" that Mary was 13 years old during her "Fiat" and her giving birth to the child Jesus, Our Only Redeemer.
This lasted until August 15, 1988 (Feast of the Assumption)..
The main purposes was to "rediscover" and to enter a "new" for the traditional popular devotions to Our Mother Mary and other Church "Popular Piety and Devotions" which many "catholics" "tagged" as "passe" old and "boring". It was not in the "fads" of this generation...and most theologians were very busy scrutinizing doctrines and formulating new terminologies of our deposits of faith..
2000, he proclaimed the "Jubilee Year" and and as a celebration of the 2000 Birthday of Jesus Christ who took our "shameful" form...human flesh to ransom us...that we might receive the adoption as children of God. This also the year of mercy of God and forgiveness of our sins. .
Added to that...it is also the year of "sulian" nang mga utang" and the returning/resting of the "land". St John Paul II even went to the World Bank to "request" to cancel debts of countries especially the poorer ones...to the shocked of many..."what is this "crazy action" of our Pope and what was he doing"....
But lo and behold!!!...25 poorest countries debts to World Bank was "condoned"/approved/allowed. These countries were mostly in the Africa Continent. .
On October 16, 2002 under his Pontificate, St. John Paul II added the "Luminous Mystery" which focuses on Jesus' Public Ministries.
And still many others....and listing here is not enough...
Karol Josef Wojtyla, St John Paul II died on April 2, 2005 due to the effects of Parkinson disease - the "aftereffects" of wounds in his "assasination" plus the multiple surgeries and loss of his voice. .
He was the longest length of Papacy ever lived...25 years and 5 months..
Pope John Paul II was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI on May 1, 2011. With the required miracles of two, he was canonized by Pope Francis on April 27, 2011 along with St John XXIII..
"Totus Tuus", "Be not afraid", "Madonna Mia, Madonna Mia"....

With this very very short "biography of our Marian Pope, hope and pray that the "scandal of one priest" or one or many... but not all catholics...may not be the reason for turning away from our Mother Church...for being a catholic....with all its religious traditions, precepts, patristic-ecclesiatical-social-spiritual deposits of faith and morals...that were handed down to us from the apostles until now...to us....generations to generations until Jesus' Second Coming will come...?
As one scholar says...we not only have the "Word of God" but also we have the "Menu" - Jesus Christ in the Eucharist....

FOR HEARTS TO PONDER:
What is your "reactions" or "faith reactions" on the most viral "sexual scandal" between a Priest and a single or married woman?
Or both a Priest and newly elected Governor, playing both ecclesiastical and political?
How about those Priest who have a business on their own, and - lumber, hardware...even own coffee shop and name after them....? For "maintenance" daw and for "retiring age daw"?....
-through Mary who always shows and points us to Jesus
