Anchored on the symbolical figure of the fish representing the celebration of the early Christian gathered together as Church, the ICHTHUS FRIENDS CHOIR continues the spirit of sharing and glorifying God thru songs of praises and serving the community thru Music Ministry. Having started as the first children’s choir of San Felipe Neri Parish in 1982, the group had for its ea

rly member selected children of cathecism classes held every Sunday at San Felipe Neri church in Mandaluyong. Young they might seem, this members bonded together and found joy in serving God thru their little voices. That for 23 years, they remained intact and singing the same dynamic tunes of worship and peace. With their dedication and devotion, the group had evolved and to be known as ICHTHUS ( a Greek acronym “Iesu Christu Theo Uus Soter”, meaning Jesus Christ, Only Son of God, Our Savior ) FRIENDS CHOIR. Biblically aligned with the commemoration of the multiplication of loaves and fish, the group celebrates their anniversary on the Sunday where the said gospel is being read. ICHTHUS Friends Choir renders Sunday Apostolate every 3:00 in the afternoon mass at the Divine Mercy Shrine (3:45 pm Children’s Mass at San Felipe Neri Parish Church from 1982-2008) under the choirmaster and founder Bro.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing choir, our conductor, and everyone behind the scenes who worked tirelessly to make the concert possible.

Special mention to the San Felipe Neri Catholic School Administration, our concert venue, for the opportunity to perform. Our sincere gratitude as well to the Jesuit Music Organization and Jesuit Communication, led by Lester Mendiola, for their invaluable support.

So, as we enter the new year, let us ask Mary, Mother of God, to bless us through the gift of Jesus so that He can guide us through the difficult paths of the future and let us prayerfully celebrate this day through prayer and reflection.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

The fourth and final Sunday of Advent.

Advent is the season in which believers eagerly anticipate the celebration of Christ’s birth. Reading, prayer, and reflection are ways we can cultivate a sense of holy anticipation this Advent. The fourth Sunday of Advent we meditate on the peace that Jesus brings our hearts and our world. Scripture is the place we can find the promises of God. Let us meditate on these truths and allow them to comfort our hearts this Advent season!

2 Thessalonians 3:16 says, “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.”

This week we focus our hearts on the “Lord of peace” who came down from heaven in the form of a baby. God knows that we are in a constant battle against fear! Fear wants to cripple us, to push us to react rather than carefully respond, and fear steals our joy. God has given us the gift of peace so we can live joy-filled lives!
Over this Advent, would you pray that God’s unexplainable peace would be evident in your heart and home. This year we all have faced so much chaos and uncertainty. God’s peace is something we need to grab tightly onto more than ever. May God’s spirit transform the days leading up to Christmas into a time to joyfully await our King!

GAUDETE SUNDAY | On this third Sunday of Advent, which the Church calls “Gaudete Sunday,” meaning "rejoice or praise", we light the third candle and rejoice like the shepherds.

For this reason, the third candle takes us back to the joyful anticipation of the shepherds who journeyed to see Jesus in Bethlehem, even before the wise men.

Thus, it is called the “Shepherd’s Candle,” and its color is pink, which is the liturgical color for joy.
