What Is the Marriage Supper of the Lamb?

As we continue our study of eschatology, we now come to one of the most beautiful events connected with Christ's return: the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.

But what does this event mean? Who will participate? And why is it important?

1. Christ Is the Bridegroom

Ephesians 5:25

"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her."

The Church is presented as the Bride of Christ, while Christ is the Bridegroom.

His relationship with His Church is marked by sacrificial love.

2. The Marriage Supper Is a Future Event

Revelation 19:7

"Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready."

The language points to a future celebration associated with Christ's redemptive work and His return.

The Bride has been prepared, and the Lamb is Christ.

3. The Bride Is the Church

Revelation 19:8

"It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints."

The New Testament clearly identifies the Church as Christ's Bride.

2 Corinthians 11:2

Paul says he betrothed the believers to one husband, Christ.

This is why no individual local church, denomination, or Baptist group can claim to be the exclusive Bride of Christ.

FALSE TEACHING:

"Only One Baptist Group Is the Bride of Christ"

Some Bible Baptist and Missionary Baptist churches teach what is commonly called the Baptist Bride doctrine—the idea that only a particular Baptist church or Baptist succession constitutes the true Bride of Christ.

But Scripture does not identify the Bride by the name Baptist, nor does it teach that only one denominational group belongs to Christ.

The Bride is composed of redeemed believers who belong to Christ.

Ephesians 5:23

"Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body."

The Bible points us to Christ, not to denominational labels, as the Head and Savior of His Church.

4. The Marriage Supper Is a Celebration of Christ's Victory

Revelation 19:6–7

Heaven rejoices because the Lord God Almighty reigns and the marriage of the Lamb has come.

The focus is not on human achievement.

The focus is on Christ and His victory.

5. The Bride Must Be Ready

Revelation 19:7

"His bride has made herself ready."

Christians should live faithfully while waiting for Christ.

Our salvation is by grace, but our lives should demonstrate that we belong to Christ.

Titus 2:11–13

God's grace teaches believers to live godly lives while looking for the blessed hope of Christ's appearing.

Bottom Line

The Marriage Supper of the Lamb is a future celebration involving Christ and His redeemed Church.

The Bible does not teach that a particular Baptist denomination, local church, or succession is exclusively the Bride of Christ.

Christ is the Bridegroom. The Church is His Bride.

Therefore, our loyalty must be to Christ and His Word, not to denominational pride or human traditions.

Concluding Question:

Is our identity centered more on Christ and His Word, or on the name and traditions of our denomination?

Don't let denominational pride replace biblical truth. Test every teaching by Scripture and keep Christ at the center.

Morning Devotion #80
The Lord Is Good

Scripture: Psalm 100:5

"For the LORD is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting and His faithfulness to all generations."

One of the greatest truths we can remember every morning is simply this: God is good.

Sometimes our circumstances make it difficult to see God's goodness. We may experience disappointment, unanswered prayers, financial struggles, family problems, or difficult seasons in ministry. But God's goodness does not change when our circumstances change.

The psalmist gives us three reasons to trust God:

God is good.
His character never changes. He is always righteous, loving, and faithful.

His lovingkindness is everlasting.
God's love toward His people does not run out. His mercy is not temporary.

His faithfulness is to all generations.
God was faithful to those who trusted Him before us, and He will remain faithful to His people today and in the generations to come.

We may not understand everything God allows, but we can always trust who God is.

So as you begin this day, don't allow yesterday's disappointments or tomorrow's worries to steal today's opportunity to praise God.

Look at His goodness. Remember His faithfulness. Thank Him for His mercy.

God is good, not only when life is good, but even when life is difficult.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You because You are good, loving, and faithful. Forgive us when we allow difficult circumstances to make us doubt Your goodness. Help us to trust Your character even when we do not understand Your ways. Give us thankful hearts today and help us to reflect Your goodness to others. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Thought for the Day:

God's goodness is not measured by how easy our day is, but by who He is.

Does the Bible Teach the "Baptist Bride" Doctrine?

The Bible Baptist and Missionary Baptist groups teach what is commonly called the "Baptist Bride" doctrine. They claim that only true Baptist churches will make up the Bride of Christ, while believers from other evangelical churches will either be excluded from the Bride or occupy a lesser position in heaven.

But does the Bible teach this?

No. This doctrine is not found in Scripture. It is based on denominational tradition rather than biblical exegesis.

1. Every True Believer Is Part of the Body of Christ

1 Corinthians 12:13

"For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body..."

Every person who has trusted in Christ is placed into one Body by the Holy Spirit. The basis is saving faith in Christ, not membership in a Baptist church.

2. Christ Has Only One Bride

Ephesians 5:25–27

"Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her."

The Church Christ loves is composed of all who have been redeemed by His blood, not one denomination. The New Testament never says that only Baptists are the Bride of Christ.

3. The Bible Emphasizes Unity, Not Denominational Exclusivity

Ephesians 4:4–6

"There is one body and one Spirit... one Lord, one faith, one baptism."

Paul points believers to their unity in Christ. Nowhere does he divide believers into "Bride" Christians and "non-Bride" Christians based on denominational affiliation.

4. The Bride Includes All the Redeemed

Revelation 19:7–8

The Bride is clothed in righteousness because of Christ's saving work. The qualification is redemption through Christ, not church membership in a particular Baptist denomination.

Bottom Line

The "Baptist Bride" doctrine is a theological error because it adds a requirement that Scripture never teaches. While we appreciate the Baptist heritage and the importance of sound doctrine, no denomination has exclusive claim to being the Bride of Christ. Every person who has been born again by grace through faith in Jesus Christ belongs to His one Body and will share in the glory of His Bride.

Morning Devotion #43
Walking by Faith, Not by Sight

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:7

"For we walk by faith, not by sight."

The Christian life is a journey of faith. We naturally want to see every step before moving forward, but God often calls us to trust Him even when the path ahead is unclear.

Walking by faith means relying on God's promises rather than our own understanding. It means believing that God's Word is true, even when our circumstances seem to suggest otherwise. Faith is not wishful thinking or blind optimism; it is confident trust in the character and promises of God.

Throughout Scripture, God's people walked by faith. Abraham left his homeland without knowing where God was leading him. Moses chose to obey God despite overwhelming opposition. The apostles faithfully proclaimed Christ even in the face of persecution. Their confidence rested not in what they could see, but in the God who had called them.

Perhaps today you are facing uncertainty about your family, health, ministry, or future. Remember that God has never failed His people. His plans are perfect, His timing is wise, and His grace is sufficient for every trial.

As you begin this day, choose to walk by faith. Trust God's Word more than your feelings, His promises more than your fears, and His sovereignty more than your circumstances. The God who leads you is always faithful.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for being worthy of our complete trust. Forgive us for the times we rely on what we see instead of believing Your promises. Strengthen our faith to follow You with confidence, even when the road ahead is uncertain. Help us to live each day in obedience, knowing that You are guiding every step for Your glory and our good. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Thought for the Day:

Faith is not seeing the whole path ahead; it is trusting the God who already knows the destination.

What Is the Unpardonable Sin?

The unpardonable sin, also called blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, is the willful and final rejection of the Holy Spirit's testimony about Jesus Christ. It is a sin committed by unbelievers who persistently reject the gospel and refuse to trust in Christ.

Jesus said:

"Whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin" (Mark 3:29).

Jesus spoke these words after the Jewish religious leaders witnessed His miracles, performed by the power of the Holy Spirit, yet deliberately claimed that His power came from Satan (Mark 3:22–30). They knowingly rejected God's clear revelation and refused to believe that Jesus is the promised Messiah.

Today, the unpardonable sin is committed when a person continually rejects the Holy Spirit's witness to Christ and dies in unbelief. It is not a sin committed by a true believer, nor is it a careless word, a temporary doubt, or a moral failure.

The Bible promises that everyone who repents and believes in Jesus Christ will be forgiven.

"Everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins" (Acts 10:43).

Therefore, anyone who comes to Christ in genuine faith has not committed the unpardonable sin.

Conclusion

The unpardonable sin is the persistent rejection of Jesus Christ and His gospel until death. It is the sin of unbelief that refuses God's only provision for salvation. Those who reject Christ have no forgiveness because they reject the only Savior.

The unpardonable sin is not a sin that a true Christian commits. It is the final, persistent rejection of the gospel by an unbeliever who refuses to believe in Jesus Christ.

What Are Spiritual Gifts?

Spiritual gifts are special abilities given by the Holy Spirit to every believer for serving God and building up the church. They are not given for personal glory but for the benefit of others.

Paul writes:

"But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good" (1 Corinthians 12:7).

Every Christian has at least one spiritual gift, and each gift is important in the body of Christ.

The Bible lists various gifts, including teaching, serving, encouraging, giving, leading, showing mercy (Romans 12:6–8), and others (1 Corinthians 12:8–10; Ephesians 4:11).

Believers should use their gifts faithfully and humbly.

Peter writes:

"As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God" (1 Peter 4:10).

Spiritual gifts should always be exercised in love and according to God's Word, for the glory of Christ and the strengthening of His church.

Conclusion

Spiritual gifts are God-given abilities that enable believers to serve Him effectively and build up the body of Christ. Every Christian has a role to play, and every gift should be used in love for God's glory.

Spiritual gifts are not for personal recognition but for serving others and strengthening the church to the glory of God.

Is Christianity Anti-Science?

Many people believe that science has disproved Christianity. Some claim that faith and science are enemies, and that we must choose one or the other.

But is this true?

No. The Bible and true science are not enemies. Since God is the Author of both Scripture and creation, they cannot ultimately contradict each other. Any apparent conflict comes from either a misunderstanding of the Bible or an incorrect interpretation of scientific evidence.

1. God Is the Creator of the Universe

Genesis 1:1

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."

The universe did not come into existence by accident. It was created by the all-wise and all-powerful God.

2. Creation Reveals God's Glory

Psalm 19:1

"The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands."

Science studies how creation works, while the Bible reveals who created it and why it exists.

3. Many Founders of Modern Science Believed in God

Many pioneers of modern science, such as Johannes Kepler, Isaac Newton, Blaise Pascal, and Michael Faraday, believed that studying nature was a way of understanding God's handiwork. They saw no contradiction between faith and scientific investigation.

4. Human Knowledge Is Limited

Romans 1:20

"For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes... have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made."

Scientific theories change as new evidence is discovered, but God's Word remains true forever. We should welcome genuine scientific discovery while testing every claim in light of Scripture.

Bottom Line

Christianity is not anti-science. The Bible encourages us to observe God's creation, while reminding us that the Creator is greater than His creation. True science, rightly understood, points us to the wisdom and power of God.

Scripture: Proverbs 3:5–6

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."

Every day, we make decisions that shape our lives. Sometimes the path ahead is clear, but often we face uncertainty. In those moments, God calls us not to rely on our limited understanding but to trust in His perfect wisdom.

Trusting God means believing that His plans are better than our own. Even when we cannot understand why certain things happen, we can rest in the assurance that our heavenly Father knows the end from the beginning. He never makes mistakes, and He always works for the good of those who love Him.

To acknowledge God in all our ways is to seek His will through prayer, His Word, and a heart that is willing to obey. As we submit our plans to Him, He faithfully directs our steps according to His perfect purpose.

Today, place every concern, decision, and burden into God's hands. Trust His wisdom, follow His Word, and walk by faith. The Lord never fails those who put their confidence in Him.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your perfect wisdom and faithful guidance. Forgive us for the times we rely on our own understanding instead of trusting You. Lead us in the path You have prepared for us, and help us to obey Your Word with joyful hearts. May our lives today bring honor and glory to Your name. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Thought for the Day:

God sees the whole journey while we see only the next step. Trust Him, and He will faithfully guide your way.

Scripture: Joshua 1:9

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."

Every new day brings opportunities to trust God. It may also bring challenges that test our faith. When Joshua was about to lead Israel into the Promised Land, he faced a difficult task. Yet God did not tell him to rely on his own strength. Instead, He gave him this wonderful promise: "The LORD your God is with you wherever you go."

The same promise encourages believers today. Our courage is not rooted in our abilities, experience, or resources. It is rooted in God's abiding presence. We can face uncertainty with confidence because the Lord walks with us every step of the way.

Whatever lies before you today, remember that God has not abandoned you. He is faithful to strengthen, guide, and sustain all who trust in Him. Walk in obedience, knowing that His presence is your greatest source of courage.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your constant presence. When we face challenges, help us to be strong and courageous, not because of our own strength, but because You are with us. Guide our steps, strengthen our faith, and help us to honor You in everything we do today. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Thought for the Day:

True courage is not the absence of fear but the confidence that God is with us wherever we go.
