In the 1st reading, King Belshazzar commits a grave sin: he takes the sacred vessels from the Temple of Jerusalem and uses them for a drunken feast. He praises idols of gold and silver, ignoring God. Then comes the terrifying moment: God's hand appears and writes on the wall a terrible warning. Daniel courageously interprets the message: God declared the end of Belshazzar's kingdom. Earthly power collapses when it refuses to honor God.

In the Gospel, Jesus warns His disciples that they will be persecuted, hated because of His Name, and brought before kings. Yet He tells them not to fear, because He Himself will give them Wisdom that no enemy can defeat. The promise of Jesus and the courage of Daniel come together: faithfulness brings trials, but God never abandons His faithful ones.

We are urged to live with truthfulness before God. Earthly kingdoms fall, but a faithful heart endures. We may face misunderstandings or hostility, but Jesus assures us of His help if we live lives declaring Christ to be our King.

A prayer for me. I am getting an online prayer circle going. It can't hurt. My love to everyone who reads this. I believe that when someone asks you to pray for them, you pray because prayers are free and should be given wholeheartedly. Let's pray for each other today because prayers are needed right now. If I don't see your name, I'll understand. I ask my family and friends wherever you might be, to kindly post this status for one hour, to whisper a prayer for all of those who have family problems, health struggles, job issues, or worries of any kind and just need to know that someone cares.
