ASU-Makato formally commenced the celebration of the 108th Founding Anniversary and 25th Charter Day of Aklan State University with a Thanksgiving Mass. The academic community gathered in solemn gratitude, honoring the institution’s enduring legacy of excellence, growth, and dedicated service.

The said event was held at the ASU Makato Event Center (AMEC) at 9:00 AM on April 8, 2026.

In the quiet stillness of Black Saturday, the world pauses between sorrow and hope—a sacred moment when faith waits in silence. It is the day that recalls Christ’s rest in the tomb, a powerful reminder that even in darkness, God is at work, preparing the promise of new life.

Here at Aklan State University, this solemn day mirrors the journey of every student and believer: moments of uncertainty, reflection, and waiting. Just as Black Saturday bridges suffering and resurrection, it teaches the Catholic faith to trust in God’s timing—that after every trial comes renewal, and after every silence, a victorious dawn.

𝓜𝓪𝓾𝓷𝓭𝔂 𝓣𝓱𝓾𝓻𝓼𝓭𝓪𝔂 marks the beginning of the 𝐒𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐮𝐦 in Christianity. It commemorates the 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬, where He instituted the Eucharist and demonstrated humility through the washing of the feet. The word “𝘔𝘢𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘺” comes from the Latin 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘮, meaning “𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵,” referring to Christ’s call to love and serve one another.
