On this day, we celebrate Saint Valentine, priest and martyr, who showed us the true meaning of love by living and dying for Christ. While the world often thinks of Valentineโ€™s Day in terms of romance, the Church reminds us that love is first and foremost a gift from God a love that calls us to faithfulness, sacrifice, and care for one another. Saint Valentineโ€™s witness encourages us to strengthen our families, friendships, and communities with the love that flows from Christโ€™s heart. May his example inspire us to live each day with courage, compassion, and joy in the Lord.

On this Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, we remember how Mary and Joseph faithfully offered Jesus in the Temple in obedience to the Law. In Simeon and Anna, the Church recognizes Christ as the Light of the world, a light blessed and carried today through candles that remind us He guides our lives. As Christ is offered to the Father may we also offer our hearts, families, and daily lives, trusting that His light will overcome all darkness.

Lent 2026 invites us into a season of deep reflection, prayer, and renewal. Beginning on Ash Wednesday, the Church calls us to examine our hearts and recognize the ways we have turned away from God. Through fasting, almsgiving, and acts of charity, we are reminded that Lent is not simply about sacrifice, but about drawing closer to Christ and preparing ourselves for the joy of His Resurrection. Each Sunday of Lent marks a step in this spiritual journey, guiding us from penance to hope, until we arrive at the triumph of Easter Sunday.

This sacred time is also a powerful call to repentance. Lent is an opportunity to let go of pride, anger, and sin, and to embrace the mercy of God with humility and sincerity. By turning back to Him, we discover true freedom and peace that the world cannot give. As we walk through these forty days, let us open our hearts to forgiveness, reconcile with those we have wronged, and renew our commitment to live as faithful disciples. Repentance is not a burden it is the doorway to grace, and Lent is the perfect season to step through it.
