Today is the Solemnity of Pentecost. We have all been baptized in one Spirit to form one body. God has revealed the Spirit to each person for the common good. Let us resolve to proclaim the Good News to the world, strengthened by the gifts of the Spirit each of us has received.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ We often think that seeing clearly depends on our eyes. Jesus says it depends on our heart. A โ€œpure heartโ€ does not mean being perfect or never struggling. It means having a heart that is honest, sincere, and open to God. Deep inside us, there is often a battle between what is good and what pulls us away from God. Sometimes pride, jealousy, selfishness, or sin can cloud the way we see things, making us lose peace and direction.

โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ Jesus reminds us that the greatest battle is not outside us, but within us. Yet He also gives us hope: the Holy Spirit can purify our hearts and lead us toward true freedom.

๐Ÿ˜ถโ€๐ŸŒซ๏ธ The disciples on the road to Emmaus walked with Jesus without recognizing Him. Their eyes were opened only when their hearts began to change. The same happens to us. The more we allow God to work within us, the more we begin to recognize His presence โ€” in prayer, in the Sacraments, in the people around us, especially the poor and those who suffer.

๐Ÿ’– Purity of heart is a lifelong journey. It means letting go of what darkens the soul and making space for God. And Jesus promises something beautiful: those who are pure in heart shall see God.

๐Ÿค” This week, ask yourself: what in my heart is helping me see God more clearly, and what might be blurring my vision?

๐Ÿค’ St George Precaโ€™s humility and obedience could be seen even in moments of illness. On one occasion, when he was sick, Dr Mifsud Bonnici visited him and ordered him to remain in bed. Yet, later that same day, the doctor returned and found Preca sitting at his desk, quietly writing. Concerned for his health, the doctor sought the help of the parish priest, asking him to convince the saint to rest.

๐Ÿ›Œ When the parish priest arrived, he gently but firmly ordered Fr George, in the name of obedience, to return to bed. Immediately, without hesitation or complaint, Preca replied: โ€œHere I am, going at once, for I must obey my Superior.โ€ He then returned to bed โ€œlike a lamb.โ€ His response revealed the deep humility and childlike obedience that marked his holiness.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€โš•๏ธ On another occasion, after recovering from a serious illness, the same doctor remarked: โ€œIt is a sign that God still needs you.โ€ Fr George quickly corrected him: โ€œNonsense! God needs no one.โ€

๐Ÿคฒ St George Preca firmly believed that it is not God who depends on us, but we who depend entirely on Him. For this reason, he often prayed with great faith: โ€œLord God, I need You.โ€
