โ‹†ห™โŸก "Jesus said to his disciples: "You have heard that it was said, You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have? Do not the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brothers and sisters only, what is unusual about that? Do not the pagans do the same? So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect."

----------ยฐห–โœง In this passage from Matthew 5:43 - 48, Jesus sets an example for us to go beyond our borders and learn how to love everyoneโ€“ including our enemies. Despite the hatred and spite we feel towards them, the idea of loving others emphasizes the unconditional love God has for us; in order to set us apart from the rest, we must learn how to love one another, no matter how hard it is to forgive. In a world where we are surrounded by sources of evil and temptations, what could be a possible solution other than to love and forgive the people who wronged us? Choosing who to love is merely an act of self-interest, whereas loving everyone is being selfless, reflecting Godโ€™s universal love for us.
I believe that in order to be perfect just as He is, we must slowly adapt to His teachings and actions, such as loving others in our own little way. Letโ€™s take a moment to reflect on our own hearts and hear that call from within ourselves; itโ€™s time for us to break the cycle of hatred and embrace each otherโ€™s flaws, for this is what makes our world a beautiful place. In every negative situation we encounter, letโ€™s respond with love, forgiveness, and prayer for we are stronger together. As we carry on with our lives, may we always strive to see the good in others and value their gifts and talents, for we are all created by God in his image and likeness; once again, we are reminded to be just like our Heavenly Father who loves and forgives us despite every flaw we make.

๐—ช๐—˜ don't often realize it, but in most days, we usually criticise the flaws of other people. We judge them behind their backsโ€”despite having worse flaws than them. The gospel teaches us about self-awareness, self-examination, and hypocrisy in our being. As people, we shouldn't bring each other down. No one is better than anyone; no one is worse than anyone. We are all sinful and full of flaws. Yet, in this context, the hypocrisy present isn't just about saying horrible things towards othersโ€”but also having a fundamental lack of self-awareness about ourselves.

This topic can be vividly seen on the part where the gospel talks about the "splinter" and the "wooden beam". The idea here is that prople are often so highly observative and arrogant to point out the tiniest flaws of others yet they fail to see their biggest shortcomings yet. Jesus tells us that not only does hypocrisy begin to ruin our relationships with one other, yet we also begin to lose our moral authority as God's children. We lose our humility, which is important in order for us to fulfill our duty for the threefold mission of Christ. ( As a Prophet, Priest, and King )

These words emphasize the consistency between inner being and outward behavior. It's not possible to consistently produce good actions from a corrupt heart, or vice versa. You cannot do good when your mind and heart aims to be badโ€”what we fill in our hearts will inevitably manifest in our actions.

๐Ÿชท To summarize everything, the bible verse tells us all about how we must be more careful with our actions. To do something, you must have the right heart for it. And not just that, yet we must have the self-awareness in our lives. Let us try to avoid judging and criticising other people's mistakes when we also have our own, too. The key to a bright future and society is to first build our relationships with our peers.

The gospel of Luke 6:39-45 emphasizes about how Jesus teaches his disciples a parable that we can also learn from. It is important to be good and help others but it is also important that you are genuine at what you are doing and not just faking it. Because whatever is in that person's heart will come out in his/her actions they can pretend all they want but as the saying goes, "What goes in the dark comes out in the light." So it is much better if you mean a good intention that you are doing and not just faking it for a blind person that is flawed cannot guide another. It is also important to know that don't judge others when you have other bigger flaws than them do not belittle others for your own benefit. And the time will come The person's true character will be revealed by their words and actions. This gospel is all about the importance of self-reflection by being true to yourself and to others. Showing humility and genuine goodness to others is also what Jesus wants to teach others.

As a Marian student, I practice this value all the time. All the actions I do to others like helping them in any way I can, I do it genuinely and I do not fake and pretend to be someone else. Because I really want to do good for others it gives you a nice feeling that you made somebody's day. Doing good for others is like my happiness to the point that, I prioritize them before myself. But nowadays, I try to prioritize myself as well. Because it needs to be balanced I should love myself like how I love others.

The takeaways for this gospel reflection is that it is important to reflect on yourself and love yourself. At the same time, live by humility and genuine goodness to others. Also do not belittle other people that are in their most vulnerable state for your own satisfaction when you yourself have bigger flaws than others.

Gospel Reflection

Luke 6:17, 20-26

"The phrase that struck me the most in today's gospel is the phrase "Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God is yours". My understanding of the gospel is that you who are poor or in need of help, will receive the love and care of God. In this gospel He speaks directly to the poor, the hungry, the sorrowful and the persecuted. It is not because suffering is good to serve God, but because God's love and justice bring ultimate fulfillment beyond worldly struggles. The "woes" He pronounces are not condemnations but warningsโ€”reminding us that self-sufficiency, greed, and seeking only worldly pleasure can distance us from God's grace.

My personal experience with this gospel is when helping those in need or suffering. Understanding the problems they are experiencing, we should know that God's love will help them. These problems can be the cause of our own deeds, decisions and problems within ourselves. Jesus' words remind us that our hope should not rest in material wealth, comfort, or human approval, which are fleeting. Instead, true joy and blessing come from trusting in God, even in difficulties. May we choose the path of true blessing, keeping our hearts focused on Godโ€™s promises."

Luke 5:1-11

This Gospel teaches us to trust God, even when things seem hopeless. Simon listened to Jesus and caught so many fish, showing that God can do amazing things when we trust Him. Simon also realized his mistakes and asked for forgiveness, showing the importance of being humble. In the end, they left everything to follow Jesus, reminding us to put God first in our lives.

BE LIKE A MAGI

Are you like the wise men? Today's gospel talks about the three magi, also known as wise men. These three magi followed the rising star to search for the king of the Jews, the Messiah, Jesus Christ, the Lord, who was about to be born. When they found Him, they adored the child and offered frank incense, gold, and myrrh.

As we reflect on today's gospel let us ask ourselves: Am I like a magi? Am I like the magi willing to search for Jesus? The Catholic Church celebrates the Jubilee year with the theme "Pilgrims of Hope". As Christians like the magi, we are pilgrims. We are journeying in this world. We encounter many experiences and circumstances. Sometimes we are on top of the world and sometimes below the earth. Sometimes we are in the happy moments and sometimes at the lowest. Are we like the magi, do we have the willingness to be led by the star (hope) to take as home (God's presence)? In moments we are lost, do we have the courage to long for Him because He is the only hope we can lean on?

As we journey to the promised land (heaven), let us deepen our friendship with Jesus. In our prayer let us talk to Him with sincerity. Let us listen to Him with all our hearts. Let us lean our hearts to Him. Let us offer our whole being to Him. Like the magi in the Gospel, let us open our hearts, hearts full of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Prayer:
Lord teach me to be like a magi. As I journey home to your Kingdom, grant me the courage to build a relationship with you! Jesus, I trust in you!

Christmas is a season of light, hope, and renewal. It calls us to pause amid life's busyness to reflect on the humble birth of Jesus, the ultimate gift of love. This celebration reminds us of Godโ€™s boundless generosity and the promise of salvation. In the glow of twinkling lights and the warmth of shared meals, we see the deeper meaning of the season: love shared in families, friendships, and communities. Beyond the gifts and festivities, Christmas invites us to embody Christ's humility, kindness, and compassion, sharing joy with those in need. As we gather this season, let us carry this spirit of peace and goodwill into our daily lives, becoming beacons of love in a world longing for light.

Everyone knows Christmas is the season of giving. But nowadays, doesn't it feel like we're obligated to give presents to people? Dear friends, let us remember that Jesus' sacrifice, our greatest giftโ€”it was given to us out of love, and not obligation. Jesus did not owe us anything and didn't die for us because He was obligated to, but because He loved us. Let us remember that the gifts we give out to others does not need to be expensive, it can be as simple as loving others the way Jesus did. Do it out of love. For the upcoming years, let's all make it a goal to reflect Christ in everyone's lives, to serve others and simply be the first one to love. Merry Christmas!
