Sometimes, a child cries during worship.
Sometimes, they run.
Sometimes, they make noise when everyone is trying to listen to the sermon.

And sometimes, we hear someone say:

“Nakaka-distract naman ang mga bata.”

But let us pause and ask:

Are children really distractions—or are they part of the worship we are called to embrace?

Jesus said,

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them.”
— Matthew 19:14

Children may not yet know how to sit quietly through an entire worship service. They may not understand every word of the sermon. They may become restless, cry, laugh, or ask questions.

But they are learning. They are growing..
growing in their faith! Amen.

T.A.N.T.R.U.M. —
TURNING TANTRUMS INTO TEACHABLE MOMENTS

T — TEACH, not just TAME
Don't simply stop the behavior. Teach the child what is right.

A — ACKNOWLEDGE the emotion
“It's okay to feel angry, but it's not okay to hurt or disrespect.”

N — NURTURE self-control
Help them learn that emotions are real, but they don't have to control their actions. (Galatians 5:22–23)

T — TRAIN the heart
“Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child…” — Proverbs 22:15

R — RESPOND, don't react
A parent's calm response can teach a child how to handle strong emotions.

U — UNDERSTAND the lesson
Every tantrum can become an opportunity to teach patience, obedience, respect, and wisdom.

M — MODEL godliness
Children learn not only from what we say, but from what they see in us.

POWERFUL CONCLUSION:
TANTRUMS are not merely moments to survive—they are moments to shape.

Don't just stop the tantrum.
Train the heart.
Teach the wisdom.
Model the way.

Because “foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child” (Proverbs 22:15)—and parenting is the God-given opportunity to guide that heart toward wisdom.
