Revival begins when Godโs people recognize their need for Him. It is not simply an emotional experience or a special event. True revival begins with a heart that recognizes its spiritual condition, acknowledges its coldness, and realizes its complete dependence on God.
First, we must have a recognition of our need. We must honestly examine our spiritual lives and recognize when we have grown cold or distant from God. Revival begins when we humble ourselves and acknowledge that we need Him.
Second, there must be repentance from sin. We are called to confess our sins, seek Godโs cleansing, and turn away from our old ways. Repentance is not merely feeling sorry for our sins, but choosing to change our direction and return to God.
Third, we must be returning to the Savior. We return to God through prayer, worship, and His Word. As we draw near to Him, He restores our hearts and renews our desire to live for Him.
Finally, revival should lead us to reach the sinners. When God revives our hearts, He gives us a burden for the lost, boldness to share the Gospel, and a desire to see souls come to Christ.
Revival is not about waiting for someone else to change. It begins with us, with our own hearts before God.
