March 11, 2026 – Midweek Service at Minagbag Church

Our Midweek Service was held at Minagbag Church where Brother Fernando Duque preached the lesson “Faith During Noah’s Day and Today.” The message reminded us how people in Noah’s time often ignored God’s warning, yet Noah remained faithful and obedient to the Lord.

We thank God for the fruit of the service as Brother Reymund Egar, 74 years old, was baptized into Christ. Truly, it is never too late to obey the gospel and start a new life in the Lord.

Also present in the service were Brothers Jay Gumpad, Manny Pader, James Attaban, Mark Daquioag, and Fernando Duque, who came to support and encourage the brethren.

We give all the glory and praise to God for the success of this service and for another soul added to Christ. May the Lord continue to bless His work and strengthen the faith of His people.

“I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth…” — Luke 15:7

"The Whole Duty of Man" according to the bible.

📖 Text: Ecclesiastes 12:13–14

King James Version (KJV)

13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Introduction

The book of Ecclesiastes is traditionally connected to Solomon. He experienced almost everything a man could desire—wealth, wisdom, pleasure, success, and power. Yet after exploring all these things, he repeatedly said “all is vanity.”

The word vanity means empty, meaningless, or temporary. Solomon discovered that life without God has no lasting value.

After searching for meaning in life, he gives the final conclusion in Ecclesiastes 12:13–14. These verses tell us three great truths about the purpose of human life.

I. Fear God

📖 Ecclesiastes 12:13

“Fear God…”

Explanation

To fear God means to have a deep reverence, respect, and recognition of God’s authority. It is understanding that God is holy, powerful, and the Creator of all things.

This fear is not only fear of punishment but also respect that leads us to obedience. When a person truly fears God, he will be careful about how he lives, speaks, and acts.

A person who fears God:
• avoids sin
• respects God’s word
• desires to live a righteous life

The fear of God reminds us that God is watching and God is the ultimate authority over our lives.

Supporting Verses

📖 Proverbs 9:10

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Explanation:
This verse teaches that true wisdom begins with fearing God. A person may have education, intelligence, or knowledge, but without reverence for God he does not have true wisdom. Real wisdom begins when we recognize God’s authority.

📖 Psalms 111:10

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments.

Explanation:
This verse connects fearing God with obeying His commandments. It shows that fearing God is not just a feeling—it produces obedience and righteous living.

📖 Matthew 10:28

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Explanation:
Jesus taught that people often fear human authority, enemies, or dangers in life. But He reminds us that God has ultimate authority over both soul and body. Therefore, our greatest reverence and fear should be toward God.

II. Keep His Commandments

📖 Ecclesiastes 12:13

“…and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”

Explanation

God did not create humans simply to exist, pursue pleasure, or gain wealth. According to this verse, the main responsibility of man is to obey God.

Many people know the Bible but do not live according to it. The Bible teaches that true faith is demonstrated by obedience.

Obedience shows:
• our love for God
• our respect for His authority
• our trust in His guidance

Keeping God’s commandments means applying God’s word in our daily life—our actions, decisions, and relationships.

Supporting Verses

📖 John 14:15

If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Explanation:
Jesus clearly states that love for God is proven by obedience. Many people say they love God, but if they do not follow His commandments, their words are empty. True love for Christ produces a desire to follow His teachings.

📖 James 1:22

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Explanation:
James warns that it is possible to hear God’s word regularly but never practice it. A person who only listens to sermons or reads the Bible but never obeys it is deceiving himself. God’s word is meant to transform our life, not just inform our mind.

📖 Luke 11:28

Blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

Explanation:
Jesus teaches that true blessing does not come simply from hearing God’s word but from obeying it. A person who listens and applies God’s word will experience spiritual blessings and guidance.

III. God Will Judge Every Work

📖 Ecclesiastes 12:14

“For God shall bring every work into judgment…”

Explanation

This verse reminds us that every person will one day stand before God. Our actions, words, and even hidden motives will be revealed.

People sometimes believe they can hide their sins from others. However, God sees every secret action and every hidden thought.

This truth teaches us:
• God is perfectly just
• no sin will remain hidden forever
• every person is accountable to God

The certainty of judgment should motivate us to live carefully and faithfully before God.

Supporting Verses

📖 2 Corinthians 5:10

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body…

Explanation:
This verse teaches that every individual will personally stand before Christ. Each person will give an account of his life and receive judgment according to his deeds.

📖 Hebrews 9:27

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.

Explanation:
Human life has two unavoidable realities: death and judgment. After death, there will be a divine evaluation of our life before God.

📖 Romans 14:12

So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

Explanation:
Each person will answer for his own life before God. No one can rely on the faith of family, church membership, or good reputation. Every individual is personally responsible before God.

Conclusion

After exploring the meaning of life, Solomon gives the final and greatest conclusion:
1. Fear God
2. Keep His commandments
3. Remember that God will judge every work

Many people spend their lives pursuing wealth, pleasure, fame, and success, but these things cannot give eternal meaning.

The Bible teaches that the true purpose of life is to honor, obey, and live for God.

Final Question

Are we living our lives:
• with reverence toward God?
• in obedience to His word?
• prepared to face His judgment?

Because one day, every person will stand before God.
