BASAHIN: Circular letter mula sa ating obispo, Lubhang Kgg. Reynaldo G. Evangelista,DD

The Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) through the Episcopal Commission on Liturgy has released recently a statement about the use of gestures by the Catholic faithful while praying the Our Father or "Ama Namin" during the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.
The Our Father, which is the prayer that Our Lord Jesus Christ taught us (Mt. 6: 9-13), is a solemn prayer of all the children of God. As such, it bespeaks of a very loving and personal relationship with God, Our Father.
As a matter of fact, the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM) does not prescribe nor forbid any gesture when praying the Lord's Prayer during the Eucharistic celebration.
Hence, the gestures of the faithful, particularly the outstretching or holding both hands together during the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, as long as it is dignified and carried out in the spirit of prayer, may be done.
