Last Sunday’s PEF/Benson Fireside reminded us of something truly remarkable:
There is hardly any organization in the world that puts as much effort into helping its people become educated, skilled, self-reliant, and prepared for the future.
Through programs like the Perpetual Education Fund (PEF), the Church helps members gain education and skills that can lead to better employment, greater financial stability, and stronger families.
But this is more than just an education program. It is part of the Lord’s work and His purpose for His children.
The Lord has commanded us to “seek learning, even by study and also by faith” (Doctrine and Covenants 88:118). He wants us to develop our talents, increase our knowledge, become self-reliant, and use what we learn to serve and bless others.
That is why the Church invests in education.
Not simply to help us earn more—
but to help us become more.
When a member gains an education, a family can become stronger.
When someone gains a skill, a door to opportunity can open.
When we become self-reliant, we are better prepared to serve.
And when we use our knowledge to bless others, we participate in the Lord’s work of salvation and exaltation.
What a beautiful purpose behind the Church’s efforts to help every member learn, grow, and become self-reliant.
Education is not just about building a career. It is about becoming the person the Lord needs us to become.
Thank you to everyone who joined our PEF/Benson Fireside last Sunday. May we continue to take advantage of the opportunities the Lord has provided and remember His invitation:
