CHIRO DANAO

CHIRO DANAO CHIRO Youth Movement in the Philippines was started by the CICM Fathers headed by Fr. For this reason, the group went dormant for about 15 years.

Francis Gevers in Baguio City in 1952 and in Cebu by the ICM Sisters in Cebu City in 1963. However, during the Martial Law days, the movement was mistakenly identified with the activist group KHIRHO. But since Christ’s love kept burning in the hearts of all its members and leaders, the former Spiritual Directors, leaders and members convened in St. Theresa’s College in December 2000 for a Grand R

eunion and unanimously decided to revive CHIRO CEBU. Since then, the CHIRO Youth Movement in Cebu flourished and has become one of the Church’s instruments in evangelizing the Cebuano Catholic faith through catechesis in their activities every Sunday in different churches including Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parish in Danao City. It has helped and supported the Catholic Church to encourage more young people to become active in their parish or community.
