Ecce Homo Update I 6th Day Novena Mass

The Augustinian Residence, together with the faithful, solemnly celebrated the 6th Day Novena Mass in honor of the 10th Fiesta Señor of Sr. Sto. Niño de Cebu at the Ecce Homo Chapel, Upper Laguna, Greenhills, San Fernando, Cebu.

The Eucharistic Celebration, centered on the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, was presided over by Rev. Fr. Edgar A. Polotan, OSA, House Prior of the Sto. Niño de Cebu Parish, Mohon, Talisay.

In his homily, Fr. Polotan exhorted the faithful not to resemble the soils mentioned Jesus in the Gospel—those who hear the Word of God yet fail to live according to it. Rather, he encouraged the faithful to become attentive and receptive listeners to the Word of God, so that they may grow in Christian faith. He further emphasized that by attentively listening to the Word of God—the God of love—Sr. Sto. Niño likewise listens to the prayers, pleas, and supplications of His devoted faithful.

The Augustinian community extends its sincere and profound gratitude to all who generously supported and actively participated in the 6th Day Novena Mass, especially the Mass and Pilgrim Sponsors and the Stewards of the Day. May the Holy Child, Sr. Sto. Niño, bestow abundant blessings and graces upon all.

Ecce Homo Update I 5th Day Novena Mass

The Augustinian Residence of San Fernando Greenhills, together with the faithful devotees, solemnly gathered for the celebration of the 5th Day Novena Mass in honor of the 10th Fiesta Señor. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Danilo Carido, OSA, Prior of the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de Cebu Community, and concelebrated by Fr. Candido Saladaga, OSA; Fr. Jasper Valmorez, OSA; and Fr. King Nepangue, OSA.

In his homily, Fr. Carido reflected on the merciful heart of Jesus, particularly toward those in need whom He encountered during His earthly ministry. He emphasized that while Christ is ever compassionate toward the suffering, the faithful are first called to sincere self-examination and a life of conversion, so as to become worthy of approaching the door of the Lord’s heart—ever attentive to the cries of those in need.

The community extends its profound gratitude to all who supported and participated in the 5th Day Novena Mass, most especially the Mass and Pilgrim Sponsors and the Stewards of the Day. May the Holy Child, Sr. Sto. Niño, grant abundant blessings to all.

Ecce Homo Update I Opening Salvo

On January 23, 2026, the Augustinian Residence of Greenhills, San Fernando, together with the Cofradía of Santo Niño de Cebu – Greenhills Chapter, officially commenced the First Day of the Novena Mass in preparation for the celebration of the 10th Fiesta Señor Sto. Niño, with the theme: “In the Sto. Niño, we are one.”

The day’s activities began with the Penitential Walk with Jesus, which started at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Sangat Chaplaincy, passed through the Teofilo Camomot Site (Park Place Area), and concluded at the Ecce Homo Chapel. This was followed by the Eucharistic Celebration, presided over by the Very Reverend Andrew P. Batayola, OSA, Prior Provincial of the Order of Saint Augustine, Province of Sto. Niño de Cebu–Philippines.

Prior to the celebration of the Holy Mass, the official Medallions were conferred upon the Hermano and Hermana Mayores for 2026–2027, and the Stewards of the Day were formally blessed and presented with certificates and tokens of appreciation.

The presence and participation of people from various walks of life on the first day of the Novena reflected the core message of unity highlighted by Fr. Batayola in his homily. ECCE HOMO UPDATE | FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT

The Augustinian Friars of the San Fernando Greenhills Residence, together with the faithful, gathered as one community of faith at the Eucharistic Table to celebrate the First Sunday of Advent.

The celebration began with the blessing of the Advent wreath, followed by the Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Rev. Fr. King Nepangue, OSA, with Fr. Candido Saladaga, Jr., OSA concelebrating.

In his homily, Fr. Nepangue reminded the faithful that as we enter the season of Advent, we should not rush immediately into Christmas. Instead, Advent invites us to pause, recollect, and reflect deeply on the beauty of the mystery we are about to celebrate. It is a season of active waiting and hopeful expectation—for we know that the One who is to come is faithful to His promises.

Ecce Homo Update I Culmination of the Month of the Holy Rosary

On October 31, 2025, at 5:00 in the afternoon, the Residence of San Fernando Greenhills, in collaboration with the Cofradía del Sto. Niño Chapter and the Youth of Ecce Homo, joyfully celebrated the culmination of the Month of the Holy Rosary.

The celebration began with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, presided over by Rev. Fr. King V. Nepangue, OSA, and concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Candido Saladaga Jr., OSA. In his homily, Fr. Nepangue reflected on the power of prayer and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary as a path toward a deeper relationship with Christ. He reminded the faithful that through Mary’s intercession, we learn humility, faith, and steadfast love.

After the Eucharistic celebration, the community prayed the Living Rosary, a moving expression of Marian devotion that brought together hearts in unity and faith. The evening concluded with a fellowship dinner, strengthening the spirit of communion and gratitude among all who participated.

This meaningful celebration reminded everyone of the enduring power of prayer and the maternal guidance of Mary, the Mother of God, who continually leads her children closer to her Son, Jesus Christ.

Ecce Homo Update I Fiesta Celebration - 453rd Finding Anniversary of Ecce Homo

Today, as we celebrate the Feast of the Finding of the Image of the "Ecce Homo," we are reminded by the Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Cebu, Most Rev. Jose S. Palma, DD, that even in the midst of life’s sufferings and trials, hope continues to shine through.

When we gaze upon the Ecce Homo—Jesus crowned with thorns, bruised and in agony—we are invited to see not only His pain but also His deep solidarity with us. He is with every heart that suffers, for He Himself has suffered. And through His death, we have been brought to life.
During the Pontifical Mass at the chapel of Greenhills San Fernando-Residence in Upper Laguna, Greenhills, San Fernando, the faithful gathered with the Augustinian friars, clergy, religious congregations, and members of the community.

Together, in prayer and thanksgiving, we were reminded that the mystery of Christ’s suffering is never far from our own, and that in Him, we find both strength and hope.

Ecce Homo Update I Day 8

On the 8th Day of the Novena Mass in honor of Ecce Homo, the Augustinian Residence—together with the devotees of Ecce Homo—gathered joyfully as one community of faith at the Eucharistic Table. The celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Albert Benedict Soliman, OSA, Liturgist of the Order of St. Augustine, Province of Sto. Niño de Cebu–Philippines.

In his homily, Fr. Soliman emphasized that authentic peace is not found in possessions such as wealth, fame, or worldly success, but in the Lord—the Ecce Homo—who reveals the face of hope amid suffering and pain. He encouraged the faithful not to let worldly attachments hinder their discipleship, but to use them instead in service of the Church and for the greater glory of God.

Ecce Homo Update I Day 6

The Augustinian Residence of San Fernando–Greenhills celebrated the 7th Day of the Novena Mass in honor of Ecce Homo.

The Eucharistic celebration, joined by the Cofradia del Sto. Niño Greenhills Chapter, Youth of Ecce Homo, and other mandated organizations (Lectors and Cantors Ministry of the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño, and Jesus Christ: Devotees and Volunteers of Ecce Homo and Navil’s Choir), was presided over by Rev. Fr. Antonio Nombrefia, OSA, the School Director of Colegio del Sto. Niño.

In his homily, Fr. Nombrefia reminded the faithful that following Christ requires the courage to let go of what we have and to face contradictions, for His words may bring division among those we serve. Yet, amid these challenges, we are called to find strength and hope in the Face of Ecce Homo.
