PRAYER TO STO. NIÑO

O Señor Santo Niño, You are our king and our god, we worship you, you are our strong Defender, we turn to you; You are the Patron of Cebu and Philippines, we come to you; You have made extraordinary wonders. Through your miraculous Image in these chosen islands, remember us. Look down at this poor soul that comes to You for help. Lead us with your wisdom, discipline us with Your Truth, console us with Your Tenderness, protect us with Your Might.

We consecrate today our thoughts to You, only with You shall they be occupied; our words, only of you shall they speak; our sufferings, that we may endure them for your sake. We beg You, Señor Santo Niño, illumine our understanding, kindle our will, cleanse our body, sanctify our soul. We wish what you wish, because you wish, as you wish, as long as you wish.

Grant us, Señor Santo Niño, that we may feel love toward You, be strict toward ourselves, be zealous toward our fellowmen, and rightly despise the things of the world. Help us to overcome sensuality with strict discipline, avariciousness with generosity, anger with gentleness, indolence with zealous industry. Make us wise in counsel, courageous in danger, patient in adversity, humble in prosperity.

Teach us, dear Santo Niño, how worthless is the world, how sublime is heaven, how brief is time, how long is eternity. Grant us, lastly, that we may remember You, adore You, and serve You here on earth that we may be happy with You forever and ever in Heaven. Amen.

In Praise of Saint Joseph

Joseph, patron saint of workers,
blending skill with charity,
silent carpenter, we praise you!
Joining work with honesty,
you taught Christ with joy to labor,
sharing his nobility.

Joseph, close to Christ and Mary,
lived with them in poverty,
shared with them their home and labor,
worked with noble dignity.
May we seek God’s will as you did,
leader of his family!

Joseph, inspiration for workers,
man of faith and charity,
make us honest, humble, faithful,
strong with Christ’s true liberty,
Make our labor and our leisure
fruitful to eternity!

LET US PRAY:
Good Saint Joseph, ever watchful guardian of the Holy Family, protect the chosen people of Jesus Christ, keep us free from the blight of error and corruption, and be our ally in the conflict with the powers of darkness. As of old you rescued the child Jesus from the plots of Herod, so now defend the universal Church from all harm. Keep us one and all under your continual protection, so that by your help and example, we may lead a holy life, die a happy death, and come to possess eternal life in heaven. Amen.

April 29: Memorial of Saint Catherine of Siena, Virgin and Doctor of the Church

Catherine of Siena was born to a wealthy Italian family, the second youngest of 25 children. Her refusal to marry angered her parents and they turned her into a servant. This increased her spiritual desire and she joined a Dominican lay order. At 21, she began preaching, a task supported by her confessor, Blessed Raymund of Capua. As her influence grew, she devoted much time to peace keeping among the Christian states. Her efforts were instrumental in persuading Pope Gregory XI to return to Rome from Avignon as well as in supporting Pope Urban VI during the schism. St. Catherine’s great mystical work, Dialogues, is a Christian classic. She was declared a Doctor of the Church in 1970, the first lay person to receive the honor. [1][2]

April 12, 2026 | Divine Mercy Sunday

The Inexhaustible Depths of Divine Mercy

In the year 2000, the Octave of Easter took on a new focus when Saint Pope John Paul II instituted the Solemnity of Divine Mercy on the eighth day of Easter. This was done in response to Jesus’ personal request, communicated to the Church through a humble cloistered Polish nun. Canonized in 2000, she is known as Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska.

Between 1931 and 1938, Sister Faustina received numerous mystical visions that she recorded in six notebooks, now referred to collectively as Divine Mercy in My Soul: Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska. Almost two years before her death, Sister Faustina recorded the following entry in her diary:

On one occasion, I heard these words: “My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day all the divine floodgates through which grace flows are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet. My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity. Everything that exists has come forth from the very depths of My most tender mercy. Every soul in its relation to Me will contemplate My love and mercy throughout eternity. The Feast of Mercy emerged from My very depths of tenderness. It is My desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy” (Diary #699).

Prayer of Entrustment:

O Lord, our God. We place our trust in You, because you are mercy itself. We repent of our sins and turn to You for mercy. We trust You to provide for our every need, according to Your will. Help us to forgive others as You forgive us. We promise to be merciful by our deeds, words and prayers. Though we have fears because of human weakness, we rely on Your infinite goodness and mercy. We entrust to You the future of our planet, our Church, our nations, our families and all our needs. With loud cries we implore your mercy on us and on the whole world. Look upon us, created in your image and likeness. Form us in the Heart of Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit into the living images of mercy. May all come to know the depth of Your mercy and sing the praises of Your mercy forever. Amen!

JESUS, KING OF MERCY, WE TRUST IN YOU.
St. Faustina, pray for us.
St. John Paul II, pray for us.

10/04/2026

In these times when our world is wounded by violence, conflict, and uncertainty, we are called as a Church to respond not with fear, but with faith.

In response to the Holy Father’s call to pray and work for peace, I am inviting all parishes, communities, and institutions in the Archdiocese of Cebu to hold a Prayer Vigil for Peace on April 11, 2026 (Saturday), from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

The one-hour prayer vigil will be held in every parish church and in every chapel. I encourage all the faithful to gather and pray.

During the vigil, the first half (8:00–8:30 PM) will be devoted to the praying of the Holy Rosary and the Litany of the Saints. The second half (8:30–9:00 PM) will be spent in silent prayer, as we listen to God’s voice in our hearts and entrust to Him our longing for peace in the world, especially in places torn by war. End your Vigil with the Oratio Imperata for Peace and Solidarity with the Poor (copy below).

Let us ask the Lord to touch hearts, guide leaders, and bring an end to violence.

I also encourage everyone to accompany our prayers with personal sacrifices and works of charity, especially for the poor, who suffer most in times of conflict.

In this way, our prayer becomes not only words—but love in action.

May the Prince of Peace reign in our hearts and in our world.

Oratio Imperata for Peace and Solidarity with the Poor

Heavenly Father,
Creator of all and loving Provider,
we come before You in this time of uncertainty and need.

As the world faces conflict and rising costs of fuel,
we feel the burden upon our daily lives,
especially the poor and the vulnerable.

Grant patience to those who are struggling,
that they may endure their hardships with hope.
Grant generosity to those who are in better circumstances,
that they may share their blessings with compassion.
Grant wisdom to leaders,
that they may choose peace over war,
dialogue over violence,
and the good of all over selfish gain.

Teach us to be responsible stewards of Your creation,
to use resources wisely,
to avoid waste,
and to care for one another in charity and solidarity.

Strengthen our faith in Your providence,
that even in times of crisis,
we may trust that You will not abandon Your people.

May the Santo Niño guide and protect us,
and may Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe, intercede for us,
that peace may reign and hope may endure.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

among gibati ang bug-at nga epekto niini sa among inadlaw-adlaw nga kinabuhi,

aron pili-on nila ang kalinaw imbis gubat,
pakig-diyalogo imbis kapintas,
ug ang kaayohan sa tanan imbis kaugalingong interes.

Tudlo-i kami nga mahimong matinud-anong tig-atiman sa Imong kabuhatan,

Gipangayo namo kini pinaagi kang Kristo nga among Ginoo.
Amen.

LET'S PRAY FOR OUR PRIESTS

Pray with the Pope

Lord Jesus,
Good Shepherd and companion on the journey,
today we place in your hands all priests,
especially those going through moments of crisis,
when loneliness weighs heavily,
when doubt clouds their hearts,
and when exhaustion seems stronger than hope.

You who know their struggles and wounds,
renew in them the certainty of your unconditional love.
Let them feel they are not mere functionaries or lonely heroes,
but beloved sons, humble and cherished disciples,
and pastors sustained by the prayer of their people.

Good Father,
teach us as a community to care for our priests:
to listen without judging,
to give thanks without demanding perfection,
to share with them the baptismal mission
of proclaiming the Kingdom in word and deed,
and to accompany them with closeness and sincere prayer.
May we support those who so often support us.

Holy Spirit,
rekindle in our priests the joy of the Gospel.
Grant them healthy friendships, networks of fraternal support,
a sense of humor when things don’t go as expected,
and the grace to always rediscover the beauty of their vocation.
May they never lose trust in You,
nor the joy of serving your Church with a humble and generous heart.

Amen.
