Sometimes, we feel weak in our faith. And sometimes, instead of doing something about it, we simply let it be, until our lamp slowly runs out of oil and the fire within us begins to fade, leaving us with nothing to offer our Bridegroom, Jesus.And honestly, many of us go through seasons like this.
But the Gospel reminds us, we must keep our lamps burning.
We donโt always have to do it alone. Sometimes, God uses the people around us, their faith, their prayers, their encouragement, and their witness to rekindle the fire within us. And through prayer, Confession, the Eucharist, the Sacraments, Scripture, and other spiritual exercises, we continue to fill our lamps with oil as we wait for the Bridegroom.
Yes, there will be days when we feel spiritually weak. Days when we have no appetite for prayer, no motivation, and no desire to do anything.
But donโt let your feelings dictate your faith. Our relationship with God cannot depend only on how we feel.
You may not always feel like praying, but pray anyway.You may not feel close to God, but keep seeking Him.You may feel weak, but make the extra effort to remain faithful.
Let us return to God, receive His grace, allow Him to heal what has grown cold within us, and continually fill our lamps with the oil of faith.
